BLOW OUT PREVENTER
(MANUAL TYPE)
Purpose
To enable well pressure to be isolated and released from the lubricator without closing wellbore
valves.
Blowout Preventers are designed to give positive protection against blow outs when operating with
wireline in well services work, by providing a positive seal around wireline.
Description
The main body in the shape of a cross has a vertical full bore section to allow movement of wireline
tools in and out of the wellbore.
The horizontal ends of the cross often referred to as ram housing contain rams, with inner and outer
seals. These rams can be rotated in and out of the housing with handles fastened to threaded stems
for closing and opening ram bodies.
An equalizing assembly is located on the side of the main body with a bleed off port on the opposite
side, and located 90 degrees from ram housings. By opening an allen wrench operated valve seat the
equalizing assembly allows pressure to be returned to the lubricator from the wellbore with rams
closed.
BOP are fitted with compatible hand unions for installation with surface equipment. Wireline BOPs
seal and hold pressure from below only.

Manually Operated, with configurations as desired. An equalizer valve
allows the operator to equalize the pressure with lubricator pressure.

Purpose
Connects wireline surface equipment to wellhead.
Description
The lower end of the Wellhead Flange is manufactured flanged to
match the particular configuration of the wellhead. The upper
end of the Flange is compatible to the bottom hand union of the
BOP or flow sub.
Flanges are typically used in high pressure or H2S condition but

are not limited to these.

FLOW TEE HIGH PRESSURE
Purpose
Gives the ability to either pump into / or bleed off wellbore pressure
under high pressure.
Description
The Flow Tee HP consists of 6 components:
1. Flow Sub Body
2. Hand Nut
3. Bottom Union
4. Flow Sub to Nutron Valve Cross Over
5. Nutron Valve to 6K Guiberson Style Union
6. Nutron Ball Valve (not shown)
The High Pressure Flow Tee incorporates a 2 high pressure quarter
turn ball valve to allow rapid well control as well as a larger bore to
pump in / bleed off the well bore. The High Pressure Flow Tee also
utilizes (but is not limited to) a 6K Guiberson style union for ease of
use and capability of pressure

the ball seat if left unchecked.

FLOW TEE LOW PRESSURE
Purpose
Gives the ability to either pump into / or bleed off wellbore pressure.
Description
The Flow Tee LP consists of 3 components:

The Low Pressure Flow Tee incorporates a 2 line pipe port to allow rapid
well control as well as a larger bore to pump in / bleed off the well bore.

FLUID CHAMBER
Purpose
Gives the ability to pump any type of fluid desired, typically used to
pump oil into wellbore directly below the stuffing box to lubricate the
seals within.
Description
The fluid Chamber consists of 4 components:
1. Fluid Chamber Body
2. Gland
3. Hand Nut
4. Bottom Union
The Fluid Chamber incorporates a ported gland internally and a reservoir
that lubricant, methanol, or any desired fluid may be pumped into to
reduce icing, or line chatter, the liquid is installed via a .5 NPT port,
which is connected to a hose and pump.

Ensure threads are not worn or damaged, it is recommended that a
check valve be installed in any hose or line that may contain wellbore
pressure.

Purpose
The 4 TPI Hand Unions (Bowen style) 5k is used to allow easy assembly /
disassembly of lubricator and or surface equipment..
Description
Hand Unions are made up of 3 components:

LUBRICATORS
Purpose
To accommodate downhole wireline tool strings while rigging up, and during
wireline operations, as well as when entering the wellbore and returning to
surface.
Description
The Lubricator is made of 7 components:
1. Hand Union Female
2. Lubricator Tube
3. Ported Sub
4. Hand Union Male
5. Nut
6. O-Ring
7. O-Ring
The lubricator is made up of sections of tubing material threaded on both
ends to accept hand unions. Once they are made up with hand unions they
are known as lubricator joints, and come in 8 or 10 foot lengths.
Standard lubricator sizes on slickline service units are 2.875 and 3.50 inches
OD (outside diameter). Lubricator sizes are also available up to 7 OD.
Sour service or NACE spec. lubricator joints are machined from Sour service
stock material, where the upper and lower hand unions are machined as part
of the lubricator joint or maybe made with sealed premium thread
connections.
An optional bleed sub may be incorporated into the lubricator assembly. This
involves a ported .50 NPT sub between the lubricator tube and the bottom
hand union.-

RISER DUAL .5 NPT
Purpose

STUFFING BOX
Purpose
Controls the running of slickline into the lubricator and down the wellbore
and contains any well pressure that may exist.
Description
The sheave wheel is supported with bearings and spindle between two
arms.
The two arms are attached to the staff and held in place at the top with the
wire guide when bolted into place. The staff mounts on top of the main
body with an upper and lower bearing. This assembly is held in place with
the hydraulic packing adapter nut.
The packing and packing glands are contained in the body, all having a hole
in the center for the wire to pass through.
The stuffing box is attached to the top of the lubricator with a hand union.

TOOL CATCHER
Purpose
Provides a method of capturing the tool string in the event that the slickline / wireline is separated from the
rope socket / cable head during wireline operations where the tools may come into forceful contact with
the bottom of
stuffing box or packoff / control head assembly. (i.e.: crowning out).
The tool catcher also comes with a integral velocity check valve, meaning the in the case that the wireline is
parted and travels through the stuffing box / control head, the wellbore is contained through the use of a
one way check
valve.
Description
Designed to be install directly beneath a stuffing box / control head in lubricator string.
Hydraulically controlled so as to be manipulated remotely via a hand pump during wireline operations.
Capable of capturing up to and including 1.75 fishing necks.
Integral velocity check valve to prevent wellbore gases or fluids from escaping to the atmosphere in the
event that the slickline / wireline is pulled free of the stuffing box / control head during wireline operations.

WELLHEAD SWEDGES
Purpose
Connects wireline surface equipment to wellhead.
Description
The lower end of the swage connection is either threaded or
flanged to fit the wellhead. The upper end of the swage is
compatible to the bottom hand union of the BOP.
Standard thread sizes of swage connections carried on slickline

units are: 2 and 3 inch line pipe, 2 3/8, 2 7/8 and 3 1/2 inch EUE.
EUE threads have pressure ratings the same as that of standard

wireline surface equipment.
