aerobic exercise program that encompasses isometrics for his arthritic knees and his
previous shoulder injury

Rationale: Our program consists of low/moderate intensity aerobic exercise

because our patient is at moderate risk for CVD, and has not gone through
exercise testing yet. If he wishes to move onto a program of vigorous
intensity he must go through an exercise test in the presence of a doctor.
Starting at a lower intensity for the beginning of our clients program will
allow him to become acclimated to exercise without inducing
muscular/skeletal injuries. Resistance training and isometrics will improve
our clients strength as it tends to deteriorate as one ages.

Rationale: Includes low to moderate intensity until cleared by MD for vigorous intensity
as patient is at moderate risk for CVD. Also, we chose to start at low-moderate intensity
to encourage initiation and continuation in the program and to lower the chance of
musculoskeletal injury
