In your own words what is Match on Action and why is it important?

To make the action look believable and to create tension towards the viewer. It
also creates the effect of continuity which drags the viewers attention from
the slight cuts that occur.

Transitions
What are Dissolves used for?
What is the purpose of a Fade In or a Fade Out?

It is used if there is a change in time, location, if time needs to be sped up or


down.
It is used if there is an emotional component to the subject in the story.
It is also used if there is a strong visual relationship between the outgoing and
incoming images.

Fades are used to symbolise the end of or beginning of a story, scene or


chapter in a film, TV show or video.
Fades help the audience see that one story has ended and a new one is
beginning.
What is the purpose of a Wipe?

Similarly used to Fade in and Fade outs, wipes are usually used to suggest the
beginning of a new chapter of a film, TV show or video.

A match cut help match two elements of different shots together showing a
relationship between them
