Wireless Control

Proto. ROBOTIC ARM

Using Waste Material

Objective:

We tried to build a simple robotic arm (prototype) which can work more or less
like a human arm . The main point is that the body of this robotic arm is made up
of waste material (shoe box cardboard).

In the world many costly robotic arms are present and the main cost encountered in
building them is on their body material ,its fine cut etc. So, we provided here an
alternative to this by making the whole body of the arm from cardboard of a shoe
box. By doing this a great amount of cost is cultivated .

We use the cardboard as body material because it is present in abundant quantity.

Features of the arm:

It has 4 degrees of freedom.

This arm uses an ARDUINO UNO ATmega 328P microcontroller for its
controlling.
The control is bluetooth based .Module used is HC-05
Operating device is a smartphone.
4 servo motors (SG-90) are used for actuations.
Can lift a load of 20-50 grams within a range of 50 cm.
This robotic arm works on a closed-loop servo mechanism that uses position
feedback to control its motion and its final position.
Using proper waste recycling techniques this arm can be made at large level and
the cost encountered will be very low as compared to others present in the market.
Applications / Usage :
Note: By changing the end effector or tool we can do:
1.) Painting in industrial automation plants.
2.) Pick and place operations.
3.) Soldering.
4.) Can assist the operator as a third hand.
5.) Can be used for welding of automobile parts.
6.) Useful in assembly processes.
7.) Can be used for grinding & drilling operations.

Total Cost encountered: Rs. 1250/-
