Unit 3 - Assignment 2

The environmental pressure that caused the birds beaks sizes and shapes was
adaptive radiation. Adaptive radiation is the evolution of many diverse species from a
common ancestor. Evolution of beak size in the Galapagos finches is a response to the
types of seeds the birds will eat and survive from.

I predict that if a species of birds that were adapted to a particular island and drastic
changes in the environment occurred, then the birds body, size of beak and shape of
beak, would no longer be the same as before. All these things would need to go through
changes if the birds want to survive. Only through natural selection, we would know
what birds are the fittest for survival. I also predict that a species of birds will decrease
in population.
