Chapter 4

SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the summary of findings,

conclusions and recommendations that drawn from the results

of the data form the respondents.

Summary

Based on the result of the data gathered, the following

findings were derived:

1. Profile of the Respondents


1.1 Gender
Majority of the respondents are female.
1.2 Place of Work
Majority of the respondents are Travel House.
2. Respondents level of performance in the different

areas of travel agency.


2.1 Ticketing
The respondents performed moderately

satisfactory in terms of ticketing in travel

agency practicum with an overall mean of 3.22.


2.2 Tour Packaging
The respondents performed moderately

satisfactory in terms of Tour Packaging in travel

agency practicum with an overall mean of 3.13.


2.3 Tour Costing

The respondents performed moderately

satisfactory in terms of tour costing in travel

agency practicum with an overall mean of 3.08.

3. Significance Difference on the Respondents level of

performance in the different areas of travel agency.


3.1 Gender

There is no significant difference on the

respondents level of performance in ticketing, tour

packaging and tour costing when grouped according to

gender.

3.2 Place of Work


There is no significant difference on the

respondents level of performance in ticketing, tour

packaging and tour costing when grouped according to

place of work.
4. Problems encountered during practicum in Travel Agency.
4.1 The common problems encountered during practicum

in travel agency are One hundred fifty hours

practicum is not enough to experience the

operation in travel agency, Lack of exposure for

students and Only auto machine them require as

doing.
5. Suggestions and Recommendations
5.1 The most preferred suggestions and recommendations

given by the respondents to improve or maintain the

level of performance in travel agency practicum are

Provides hands-on training to the different automated

reservation system, Provides facilities and

equipments needed for the operation of travel agency,

Provide a travel agency simple laboratory for

enhancement of the Bachelor of Science in Hotel

Restaurant and Tourism Management Students of Saint

Paul University Philippines and Additional one

hundred hours for travel agency practicum for more

exposure of the students.

Conclusion

The following conclusions are drawn based on the

findings of the study:

1. There is no significant difference on the respondents

level of performance in ticketing, tour packaging and

tour costing when grouped according to gender.


2. That the respondents were not very skilled or competent

in doing Ticketing, Tour Packaging and Tour Costing.


3. That there is inappropriate training for students

during their travel agency practicum in ticketing, tour

packaging and tour costing.


4. They should look Travel Agency that could meet the

needed competency of on-the-job training in travel

agency.
Recommendations
In the light of the findings and conclusions

drawn, the following recommendations and suggestions

are deemed important:


1. That HRTM faculty should choose an agency who

could give a proper training for practicumers.


2. That there is a need for simulation activity in

Travel Agency subject.


3. That HRTM faculty should maximize the use of

Travel Agency laboratory.
