 Athens International Digital Film Festival stands as an international
meeting point for creators and audience, since its very first year.
Simultaneously it achieved an alignment with the major developments
regarding cinema, which is steadily moving towards the Digital Age.
Featured as an innovative Festival it soon experienced an unexpected
response from many filmmakers around the world.
Digital Cinema has created an unprecedented technological revolution
in the film industry, also affecting television and internet. The ergono-
mics and availability of digital cameras along with the endless possi-
bilities of digital editing expand the capabilities of modern filmmakers
allowing them to achieve traditionally impossible things. Thus a vibrant
community is rising all around the world of millions who are interested
in cinema, which continues to gather heads and affect the other arts,
which often borrow tools, technology and ideas inspired by cinema to
create new art species.

The Production of Athens International Digital Film Festival is a

true challenge fostered by a powerful vision. The systematic work and
creative mood is always the base. The Festival has gained many friends,
not only in the art world, but wider. Gradually more and more people
follow it. Friends, sponsors, supporters, volunteers and partners of the
festival they all create a supporting net.
The Festival offered a new place for creators to show their work. It also
created the conditions for a dialogue in relation to new media.
International and Greek film production, artists and the ideal of art
stand as a motivation for the Festivals people to continue.

 Dear Friends and Colleagues! On behalf of Wildlife Vaasa International
Nature Film Festival, we are once more very happy to co-operate with the 6th
edition of Athens International Digital Film Festival, a film festival that continues
to keep a positive attitude and creative approach for development, establishing
itself after six year as a major media event in the Greek eternal capital, serving
Greek filmmakers who send their new works for consideration in the film
competiton, while on the international stage, it hosts hundreds of films from tens
of countries which participate at the international sector of the festival
competition. In that way, the festival offers every year a unique networking
opportunity not only to Greek film makers but also to foreign filmakers who want
to participate at the festival. Faithful to our long time co-operation with Athens
International Digital Film Festival, Wildlife Vaasa Festival will present this year in
co-operation with Athens the "4th Panorama of Ecological and Scientific Films", a
fine selection of ecological awarded films of our festival which will be screened at
Cine Alcyonis on Saturday on February 4th (12-16) and on Monday February 6th
(12-16). This special program is presented out of competition and in the
framework of environmental education and life long learning. It's implementation
is supported also by the Greek Ministry of Culture, the City of Athens as well as
the EU-Social Fund. Culturally, the program is also very diverse consisting of 10
films from 9 countries around the world; 6 awarded documentary films from
France, Belgium, Finland, China and Ecuador and 4 brilliant animation films, with
their artists coming from Spain, Indonesia, Russia and India. The films are
subtitled in Greek thanks to the big work of the festival team in Athens which
really want to thank together with the festival organizing comittee, the festival
supporters and most of all filmmakers and production companies who offered
gladly and selflessly their fine works for the implementation of this scpecial
program in Athens in 2017.

Bartosz Kruhlik was born in 1985 in Lubsko (Poland). He graduated in
film directing at The National Film School in Lodz. His films have been
shown over 500 times at film festivals all over the world and got
nearly 150 awards. The main selections: San Sebastian IFF, Karlovy
Vary IFF, Montreal WFF, Sarajevo FF, IDFA. In 2013 he received the
Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Prize for outstanding

background in executive management, having founded and run a
translation subtitling company and then a post-production business that

overseas production companies but now it produces original material,

entertainment, Film has the capacity and the responsibility of claiming
and making people consider the true importance of ethics and certain

mother, but the mother is going to make it hard for him.

-Abstract: A girl lost the last bus back

home. In the street, a man tries to steal her bag and in the struggle, he
stabs her. Angela is wounded in an alley, hidden behind some garbage
cans, just two meters from a busy street. Different characters, the last
night owls returning home, pass by without seeing her, immersed in
their own parallel stories. As the minutes passed, her anxiety is bigger.
Especially when he discovers his only companion is the man who
stabbed her.
-Curriculum Vitae: Arantxa Echevarria worked for 20 years
in cinema. Her first shorts films Panchito and Don Enrique de Guzman
have been selected and awarded in more than thirty festivals.
Suddenly one night was nominated for the Goya in 2014. Me, the
president was named best project in the Festival of Medina del Campo.
She just finished the documentary The soloist of the orchestra and her
latest short film The Last Bus. She has co-written the screenplay for the
film Tama feature film in post-production.

factory. While she's painting of of her canvas, she finds a way of
changing how she sees the world.

fiction projects directed by Julio Medem, Paco Len or Alejandro
Amenbar. In 2012, she becomes interested in the stop motion artistic

after giving up his studies in Chemical Engineering at Seville University,
Angel Ripalda has graduated in Audiovisual Comunication at Malaga
University. During his studies he made his first contact with the cinema
television and theater world, and he decided to start studies of film
direction at ECAM ( Film and Audiovisual School of the Community of

- Curriculum Vitae : I am a freelance filmmaker currently
living in Greece. As a child, everytime I watched a movie was a chance to
escape from my daily routine as a story was developing in front of me
through the screen. This feeling got me glued to my seat till the film or
the show I was watching came to an end. While I was growing up, the
digital era made production, for a freelancer without funding like me,
possible and as a result the idea to work in this field made so much
sense for me. Up to date I have undertaken quite a few projects such us

Union closed their borders, leaving almost 60,000 refugees stranded in
Greece, with no way to make the journey to their destination countries.
Faced with hosting the refugees, the Greek Government decided to
reopen a number of closed-down army camps as temporary residences
and called on the army to set up and manage the camps: duties that
they had neither trained for or experienced before. Christy Kelly, a
young English student, visited one such camp, in the small town
Alexandria in Northern Greece. Along with local filmmakers he explores
the role of the army and NGOs in organizing the camp, the daily lives of
the refugees and the evolving relationship between the locals and their
new neighbors; a relationship which has moved from unease, to
understanding and on to still further unease.

his life seems unbearably hollow. So, he decides to quit -during a period

through his older brother, Giannis. When he meets him, on the rooftop
of their currently empty parental home, he faces a critical question: can

web videos./ Chrys Barmpas was born in Athens. He graduated from the
National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with a Bachelor of
Communication and Media Studies. During his time there, he begun
delving into cinema and looking for ways to express artistically through
it. He continued his studies, obtaining a diploma in Cinema: History,
Practices and Basic Directing Principals and he is currently studying
Digital Film Making in SAE Athens. The last few months, he has directed
his first short film (High) and his first short documentary (Anava), while
he has also created some commercial spots and web videos.

"Touch Me" is a segmented short film that contains four stories with
common factor the touch. More often than not, touching speaks louder
than words, expressed either orally or verbally. In every story touching is
approached by a different angle, but in each case the common factor is
the "Man", freed from social conditioning. Towards the end of the film,
a gentle touch becomes a fierce slap. "Touch Me" is a gentle and unique
segmented short film which "touches" issues such as alienation,

 . Summary Mass hysteria is the phenomenon
in which delusive ideas are appeared in a crowd , usually referred to
something that is a threat to society, such as the spread of a disease, a
microbe, a coming disaster etc. A special feature of such events is the
speed that the idea is spread through reputation, gossip and especially
the fear it causes. The incidents of mass hysteria are linked physical
symptoms with no organic etiology. Many factors contribute to the
creation and dissemination of a mass delusion (the media, the rumors,
the excessive stress, etc.), but the real causes remain unknown. Mass
hysteria is a phenomenon-characteristic of todays societies and is
studied both by sociology and psychology, dance theater aleajactaest
through Hysteria(based on the performance "Delirium") tries to
convey a sense of mass hysteria as occurrence and how they can affect
humans in physical, psychological and behavioral level. -

dedicated to the performing arts, contemporary dance, video art, mixed
media and associated technologies. Based in Thessaloniki, Greece, its
chief aim is the research and development of outside-the-box
multidisciplinary art. Dani Joss is a sound artist and composer with
expertise in digital and experimental arts. "Imago ep.II: Symmetry" is his
second film, although the project is largely a team effort. Together with

Summary- The movie presents a girl that was involved in a car

Two tributes took place in the parallel events with films of unique
aesthetics and themes: the first to young filmmakers from Spain
and the second to filmmakers from Iran. We also enjoyed films
created by Edge Hill University students, who for four years now
prepared films especially for the festival and whose films this year
joined the competition in the category: Student - Young
filmmakers.
A special tribute to Environmental Education, Lifelong Learning
was held by the 6th Athens International Digital Film Festival on
Saturday 4 and Monday 6 of February. The tributes inspiring
environmental films charmed both grownups and children,
through their magical images, stunning landscapes, clever animals
and birds and scientific information that have overturned all we
have known about the nature that surrounds us.
During this Tribute the Festival arranged a premiere screening in
Greece for 11 excellent quality and international production
documentaries, on the environment, which demanded long-term
shooting and brought to the silver screen images of distant and
inaccessible places.

he Tribute is implemented through the Operational Program

"Human Resources Development, Education and Lifelong
Learning" and is co-financed by the European Union (European
Social Fund) and Greek national funds.

The special program of screenings was accompanied by a panel

discussion focusing on the role that documentaries hold in
introducing environmental sciences research and discoveries to a
wide audience. And a special workshop entitled "Environmental
education with the power of new media production and
distribution. This workshops success motivated the organizing team to
include it in the festival events that will hopefully be repeated.

VASILIKI KAPPA is the Producer of Athens International Digital Film
Festival She was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She lives and works
in Athens. She is successful writer, registered by literary critics as one of
the most disruptive voices in contemporary literature. Her first book "The
hyenas diet" was officially nominated for a State Prize novel, something
that rarely happens for an emerging writer. Simultaneously she is a visual
artist that brings together a wide range of tools, ranging from painting to
filmmaking, animation and video art. Her work as a multiple artist gave her
the opportunity for a direct contact with the audience and constant
experimentation with the idea of artistic identity and its applications in
communication.
She holds a masters degree in Digital Arts (Athens School of Fine Arts).
She also studied painting and has a degree in Film direction, in Ancient
Greek literature and linguistics, a diploma in Acting and in Opera Singing
and in alternative psychology.
She writes literature, theatre, scripts, articles at Koyinta Art Magazine, she
has written and directed theatrical plays that were presented in Greece,
Germany and Romania. As an artist she has held many solo exhibitions
and participated in many group exhibitions around the world (Germany,
USA, Finland). In 2010, she was the main host and presenter at a TV
cultural show titled Blow-Up, which produced a total of 14 episodes that
were screened both in Greece and Cyprus and they are also available on

The 6th Athens International Digital Film Festival awards ceremony brings the
curtain down
The 6th AIDFF awards ceremony brings the curtain down on
another hugely successful festival, which was held from 2 to 8
February 2017. More than 150 films, from 30 countries, were
screened during the Festivals week, including 60 premieres. The
Festival screens all the typical film categories of New Cinema such
as short and feature fiction films, video art, video dance,
experimental, short and feature Documentaries. In collaboration
with the British MMBF institution the festival awarded one of the
winners with the Rising Star Award. This special prize is supported
and provided by the British MMBF Trust, which is an international
fund set up to support young people with an interest to follow a
career in the film industry.

The Best Director award was granted by the Greek Directors

Guild. Another Award provided by ALKYONIS New Star Art Cinema
to a director chosen by the Festival ensures distribution for
hisfilms.This Festivals main program was screened in the two well
know Athenian cinemas of historical value, Alkyonis New Star Art
Cinema and Studio New Star Art Cinema. Two tributes took place in
the parallel events with films of unique aesthetics and themes: the
first to young filmmakers from Spain and the second to filmmakers
from Iran. We also enjoyed films created by Edge Hill University
students, who for four years now prepared films especially for the
festival and whose films this year joined the competition in the
category: Student - Young filmmakers.
A special tribute to Environmental Education, Lifelong Learning was
held by the 6th Athens International Digital Film Festival on
Saturday 4 and Monday 6 of February. The tributes inspiring
environmental films charmed both grownups and children, through
their magical images, stunning landscapes, clever animals and birds
and scientific information that have overturned all we have known
about the nature that surrounds us.

During this Tribute the Festival arranged a premiere screening in

Greece for 11 excellent quality and international production
documentaries, on the environment, which demanded long-term
shooting and brought to the silver screen images of distant and
inaccessible places.

he Tribute is implemented through the Operational Program

"Human Resources Development, Education and Lifelong Learning"
and is co-financed by the European Union (European Social Fund)
and Greek national funds.

The special program of screenings was accompanied by a panel

discussion focusing on the role that documentaries hold in
introducing environmental sciences research and discoveries to a
wide audience. And a special workshop entitled "Environmental
education with the power of new media production and
distribution. This workshops success motivated the organizing
team to include it in the festival events that will hopefully be
repeated.

The Festival takes place under the patronage of the Ministry of

Culture and has had the Support of the City of Athens/ Opanda
since its first year. The festival is produced by KOYINTA Organization
and Tickets Tickets and has partners and cultural correspondents in
several cities of Greece and in various countries around the world.

The Rising Star Award will be announced on the festival website in

the coming days
