BBFC Certification

BBFC is a guide to media content as it works as an independent and non-

profit media content regulator. BBFC operates as a labelling system for films.

BBFC aims are:

To protect the public, mostly children from content that may cause
harm to them.
To allow parents to make decision on which content can be viewed.
To recognise and respect adults freedom of their choices.
To provide an effective service to enforcements.
To respond and reflect on the moving social attitude towards media
content.

The BBFC examines for each film and they regulate what certification
deserves, mostly the examiner will accept their recommendation, the same
process occurs with DVDs.

- We decided that this will be our certification because our

content will be suitable for the over 12s as the content used is
suitable. This means that our production is not generally suitable for
children aged 12, children under the age of 12 should only watch this
film accompanied by an adult but the adult should consider whether
our film is suitable for their child.

Throughout our production we conform to:

Drugs- The misuse of drugs must be infrequent and should not be glamorised,
in our production we dont conform to this, as the use of drugs is not shown in
our production.

Imitable behaviour- There will be no promotion of dangerous behaviour which

children are likely to copy such as using knives. In our production we dont
conform to this as the use of dangerous behaviour such as using knives wont
be used.

Language- There maybe moderate language and strong language can be

permitted depending on the manner in which its used. This doesnt conform
to our production, as the use of foul language is not used as in our product
there is little dialogue used.

Threat- There maybe moderate physical threat, some scenes can become
disturbing but the overall tone shouldnt be. Our production follows this as
there physical threat shown towards Lilly as the intruder is planning to kidnap

her but the overall tone is not disturbing throughout as the beginning scenes
have a happy and neutral atmosphere.

Violence- There maybe moderate violence but not in detail and no emphasis
on injuries or blood shown the use of gore moments can be permitted but
justified by the context. In our production we follow the convention of violence
as Lilly may experience violence from the intruder but we dont show this in
our production as we decided to leave this out to keep the audience guessing
on what will happen to her.
