Have
you ever been in a place that you were so amazed about its culture that you wanted
to learn as much as possible about it? Well I have...In summer, my family and I went to
Saudi Arabia which was a great experience. We tried traditional dishes, explored the
villages, the desert and also we learned a lot about their dress code and generally their
culture. Today I am going to talk about mens and mainly womens dress code and also
some of their traditional dishes. Keffiyeh

For starters, women are obliged to wear a long black cloak called
Abaya usually paired with a head- scarf called Hijab or Niqcab which is
THE ARAB
leaving a slit for the eyes. Fanatic WORLD muslims wear the Burka which is cover-
ing the body from head to toe with a mesh for the eyes. Non-Muslim
women are obliged to wear the Hijab only in the presence of the religious po-
lice. Men on the other hand, are not obliged to wear something special. If they want,
they wear a Thobe in public which is an Arab garment usually with long sleeves, similar to a
robe. They should not have long hair but if they have, they usually cover it with a traditional
Middle Eastern headdress known as Keffiyeh fashioned from a square scarf usually made of
cotton.
As regards the Arabic cuisine, it is mainly a
combination of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern
and Indian food. People in Saudi Arabia are not
allowed to eat pork or consume alcohol for reli-
gious reasons. However, they have some very
tasty dishes such as hummus or falafel with pita
bread and loaf of bread stuffed with lentil or on-
ion soup. They also have some heavy sweets for
example kanafeh which is a Middle Eastern cheese
pastry soaked in sweet, sugar-based syrup. The Ar-
abs rely heavily on a diet of dates, wheat, barley,
rice and meat with little variety and emphasis on
yogurt products such as labneh which is yoghurt
without butterfat.
Thobe To sum up, the Arabs have a very complicated
but exciting culture. I believe that people who
visit the Arabic countries should read and learn about these peculiar but
interesting cultural elements. Chara Stavridou3rd Grade Abaya

I WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME THE ARTICLES OF SOME OF MY OLDER STUDENTS
AND WISH THEM THE BEST OF LUCK WITH THEIR FINAL EXAMS!!!
I cant believe its the third Grade ALREADY?!?!?!?!
When you finally get to your last school year and have to go through final exams, knowing
that its something which will ,one way or another ,affect your life, it is quite normal to have
mixed feelings. Of course, stress is a great issue that comes upon every student, sometimes
even in extreme cases. However, the best part of preparing for your final exams is the
feeling of freedom that becomes stronger every day. Such an experience will be a great
source of self-consciousness and emotional strength. For that reason nobody should
ever feel like they can't make it, because in the end, the most important part is not the
destination, but rather the journey! Ilaeira Kokkinogeni

Dancing as a medicine for Parkinsons disease

Would you ever believe that dancing can be a medicine for Parkinson disease? This is the un-
believable story of Rafi Eldor, a 62 year old professor. After being told that he has 5 years of
normal living and afterwards he will need nursing, he lost every hope. But that didnt last long
because soon he discovered dance. Having no experience, he started dancing and he discov-
ered that it improved his abilities in all parts of his body and made
him feel good and energetic. His doctor saw some amazing results as
his body was not affected by the disease and she said that it is not
something typical for a Parkinsons patient. Having found a medicine
for Parkinson disease he decided to share it with others so he created a
dance class for people who also had Parkinson, to inspire them, to help
them confront their fears but most importantly not to lose hope.

The Environment and Us
Nowadays, peoples indifference to environmental problems is on the rise. This problem is well known. Nev-
ertheless, not much has been done about it. The question is how can this change? Environmental pollution is
a worldwide issue but some people just dont care. One reason is the lack
of recycling bins in public places. Many people take out large quantities
of rubbish in the street. The government should provide easy access to
recycling bins for all citizens. Every house should have their recycle bin.
Another reason is that people are not aware of the damage they are doing
to the environment. Nevertheless this can change. People from the recy-
cling programs can hand out informative brochures. Another alternative
is to inform children at an early age about this issue so as to realize the
problem before it is too late. With the pollution levels and garbage prob-
lems our city faces nowadays recycling can benefit everyone. We are
happy with all these resources which nature has offered us but it is time
we offer something back for the sake of our environment. Filia Dimitriadi-3rd Grade Agios Stefanos Senior

Three generation households- Caterina Deligianni-3rd Grade Agios Stefanos Senior High School
In these tumultuous times, many people live in three generation households. The
question is, can people benefit from this?
Although sometimes older generations exceed their limits, there is no doubt that a
person can greatly benefit from a three-generation household. Many of these older
generations have lived in difficult situations and know the life cycle well. These peo-
ple can help you in the difficult moments in your life by giving you the most useful
advice. They have the willingness to show you all your alternatives without being
indifferent to your problem. Another advantage is that they express their feelings to
you every day maybe without saying it but with their actions. They try to protect you
from all world hazards such as to not fall in with the wrong crowd. They only have
your best interest at heart and every day make efforts for your happiness. Moreover if
the parents of the family are very busy and want to get away from this monotonous
life, they can have this opportunity. Grandmothers and grandfathers can take care of
the kids and offer the couple a relaxing weekend.
You should enjoy the ride named life. It can seem richer
when around you, you have people who really love you.
Getting a Job- George Theofilou-3rd Grade Agios Stefanos Senior High School
In these troubled times most peoples criterion when it comes to deciding on a job to do is
mainly the income that comes with it. But one has to wonder whether money is essential to
happiness.
On the one hand, although you should like the job you do, nowadays you need money for
survival. Few people have the chance to have a well-paid job with all the benefits. In this
competitive world where there is a scarcity of job opportunities, you need to fight to get
what you want. Another advantage is that a job with status can open doors for
you in the future. Besides, this can also broaden our horizons.
On the other hand, if you do something with willingness and love, you succeed
in creating something beautiful and special from your heart. Many people are miserable because they
hate the job which they do every day. Others want to stay in their job all day long and this makes them
happy. Thats because they dont work just for the money.
It is true that some people care only about money. However I believe that nobody is truly wealthyuntil
he/she succeeds in something without money. The prettiest things in the world ARENT things!
Amazing Technology
-Anyone will be able use technology to display something to someone, or to have access to
a smartphone or even have access to a locked room or an apartment.
This declaration was made by professor Isao Ejizen at the institute of Eters in Japan.
-The sign of victory with two fingers is an ordinary pose in a photo. Ejizen and his partner
took Ejizen's fingerprints from a photo which was taken from a distance of 3 meters.
Today fingerprint scanners are found in mobile phones, in electronic wallets ,
in computers, and many other devices as an alternative choice for recognition by the user

MOVIE REVIEW As a guest writer in this e-newspaper, I would like to talk about a movie I
recently watched, called "Gangs of New York". It is written and directed by Martin Scorsese,
who is one of my favourite directors. The movie takes place in New York of the 1800's, where
gangs roamed the place and created conflicts and riots. The movie sometimes was emotional and
thought-provoking. I thought it was a great acted and well-directed film that everybody who likes
action and drama movies should watch, because it gives much information about the situation in that period of time in a
very entertaining and artistic way.-Thomas Kosmopoulos.3rd Grade Agios Stefanos Senior High
