1 Application scope
() XRGJ-A
These Rules apply to the operating personnel of XRGJ-A Fixed Fixed Car Lifting Jack adopted in East-
West Line and North-South Line (Phase I) of Addis Ababa Light Rail in Ethiopia.

3 Safety precautions
3.1 7 6

3.1 Operation personnel of this equipment must be qualified in the special training on the equipment
and gain the qualification. There shall be at least 7 personnel: 1 at each side of each pit, including
6 personnel in total, and 1 at the general console desk; during operation, these rules must be
strictly abided by.
3.2

3.2 The operation personnel shall wear the work clothes, work shoes and work caps as required, and
all the clothing shall not be loose; self-control and mutual control must be conducted during
operation.
3.3
3.3 Before operation, inspect and clear obstacles and people without fixed duties at the site, and make
the appropriate safety precautions.
3.4
E-Stop

3.4 During operation, the status of the Fixed Car Lifting Jack shall always be observed; the pressed
button shall be immediately released in case of any emergency, dangerous or abnormal situation,
and meanwhile the red E-Stop button on the control panel shall be pressed, to stop the operation;
the operation personnel shall check the fault alarm information and make a record, and then apply
for maintenance; only when the equipment is repaired, can the operation be re-started.
3.5
3.5 No one is allowed to pass through the underbody or conduct the maintenance work when the Fixed
Car Lifting Jack is in the rise-and-fall process.
3.6
3.6 During the operation process of the equipment, the operation personnel is only allowed at the
bottom of the equipment, other than on the equipment; and it is not allowed to vigorously shake the
equipment during the maintenance operation.
3.7
3.7 If any tool or other foreign matter falls into the equipment, it is not allowed to be operated before
the tool or foreign matter is taken out.
3.8 24
3.8 The train shall not be continuously placed on the Fixed Car Lifting Jack for more than 24 hours.

4 Preparation before operation
4.1 DCC
4.1 Before operation, assign the person in charge and apply for approval of DCC, and then the
personnel can go to the site for operation.

4.2 Check the status of the Fixed Car Lifting Jack. The appearance shall be free from damage, the
bearing portions shall have no cracks, and each lifting column shall be in the lowest position; the
metro vehicle shall accurately park in the lifting position of the Fixed Car Lifting Jack.
4.3
4.3 The operation personnel shall place stoppers on the rail bridge to prevent the vehicle sliding.
4.4
4.4 Dismantle the skirting board at the lifting and supporting part of the vehicle body, and make sure
that the lifting column does not interfere with other parts of the vehicle.
4.5 CONTROL POWERONE-STOP
4.5 Turn the CONTROL POWER button on the console to ON with the key switch, and reset the
emergency stop button E-STOP.
4.6 POWER ONPOWER ON
4.6 Press the POWER ON button, if the POWER ON indicator is turned on, the function is normal.

4.7 Wheel alignment. Transport the vehicle to be repaired to the repair position with a trailer, and when
the alignment (limit switch) of all wheels touching the rail bridge, theauthorization indicator will be
displayed on the master operational console and each single equipment operation panel.

5.1 According to the lifting demand, select the overall maintenance mode (simultaneous maintenance
for bogies of the three pits) or the optional maintenance mode (maintenance for bogie in one pit or
bogies in any two pits).
5.2
5.2 Operation of the overall maintenance mode
5.2.1
5.2.1 Bogie lifting

1) Turn the vehicle body/bogie switch of the main console and local controller to bogie, and make
the local control single operation panel switch on the main console display screenshow thebogie
switch.

3) When the site operation personnel confirm that there is no abnormal situation, press the
confirmation button of all local controllers and the bogie lifting button of the main console; the
three sets of bogies will be simultaneously lifted to 950mm.
5.2.2
5.2.2 Vehicle body lifting

1) Turn the vehicle body /bogie switch of the main console and local controller to vehicle body, and
make the local control single operation panel switchon the main console display screen show the
vehicle body switch.

2) After confirming that there is no abnormal situation, press the confirmation button of all local
controllers and the vehicle body lifting button of the main console; then three sets of vehicle
bodies will be simultaneously lifted, and will stop when the lifting column load limit switch of each
vehicle body is triggered. At this time, all lifting units will be in place, the height of the end vehicle
body lifting unit is 1,630mm, and that of the middle vehicle body lifting unit is 1,178mm.

3) Vehicle maintenance personnel shall disassemble all connecting pieces between the bogie and the
vehicle body, and the Fixed Car Lifting Jack main console operation personnel shall confirm that
the disassembly is completed.
5.2.3
5.2.3 Bogie lowering
1 /

1) Turn the vehicle body/bogie switch of the main console and local controller to bogie, and make
the local control single operation panel switch on the main console display screen show the
bogie switch.

2) After confirming that there is no abnormal situation, press the confirmation button of all local
controllers and the bogie lowering button of the main console; and then three sets of bogies will
besimultaneously lowered to the height of 850mm.

3) The site operation personnel shall make sure that all connecting pieces are completely
disassembled, and then press the confirmation button of all local controllers and bogie lowering
button of the main console; the three sets of bogies will simultaneously be lowered to the height of
350mm.

4) After confirming that there is no abnormal situation, the site operation personnel may press the
confirmation button of all local controllers and the bogie lowering buttonof the main console; the
three sets of bogies will simultaneously be lowered to the null position.
5.2.4
5.2.4 Vehicle body another lifting

1) Turn the vehicle body /bogie switch of the main console and local controller to vehicle body, and
make the local control single operation panel switch on the main console display screen show the
vehicle body switch.

2) Press the confirmation button of all local controllers, and then press the vehicle body lifting
button of the main console; the three sets of vehicle bodies will be simultaneously lifted, the end
vehicle body lifting unit will be lifted to the height of 2,650mm, and the middle vehicle body lifting
unit will be lifted to the height of 2,198mm.

3) Vehicle maintenance personnel shall move out the train bogie, and turn off the power.
5.2.5
5.2.5 Vehicle body lowering

1) After the maintenance of the bogie, the maintenance personnel will push the bogie to the
maintenance position. The Fixed Car Lifting Jack operators will turn the vehicle body /bogie
switch of the main console and local controller to the vehicle body, and make the local control
single operation panel switch on the main console display screen show the vehicle body switch.

2) Press the confirmation button of all local controllers, and then press the vehicle body lowering
button of the main console; the three sets of vehicle bodieswill be simultaneously lowered, and the
lowering will be stopped when the end pit vehicle body lifting unit is lowered to the height of
1,630mm, and the middle vehicle body lifting unit is lowered to 1,178mm.
5.2.6
5.2.6 Bogie lifting
1 /

1) Turn the vehicle body/bogie switch of the main console and local controller to bogie, and make
the local control single operation panel switch on the main console display screen show the
bogie switch.

2 After confirming that there is no abnormal situation, press the confirmation button of all local
controllers and the bogie lifting button of the main console; the three sets of bogies will be
simultaneously lifted to 100mm.

3) When the site operation personnel confirm that there is no abnormal situation, press the
confirmation button of all local controllers and the bogie lifting button of the main console; the
three sets of bogies will be simultaneously lifted to the height of 850mm.

4) When the site operation personnel confirm that there is no abnormal situation, press the
confirmation button of all local controllers and the bogie lifting button of the main console; the
three sets of bogies will be simultaneously lifted to the height of 950mm. Vehicle maintenance
personnel shall connect all connecting pieces between the bogies and vehicle bodies, and confirm
that there is no abnormal situation.
5.2.7
5.2.7 Vehicle body lowering

1) Turn the vehicle body /bogie switch of the main console and local controller to vehicle body, and
make the local control single operation panel switch on the main console display screen show the
vehicle body switch.

2) After confirming that there is no abnormal situation, press the confirmation button of all local
controllers, and then press the vehicle body lowering button of the main console; the three sets of
vehicle bodies will be simultaneously lowered to the null position.
5.2.8
5.2.8 Bogie lowering

1) Turn the vehicle body/bogie switch of the main console and local controller to bogie, and make
the local control single operation panel switch on the main console display screen show the
bogie switch.

2) Press the confirmation button of the local controller, and then press the bogie lowering button of
the main console; the three sets of bogies will be simultaneously lowered to the height of 350mm.
When the site operation personnel confirm that there is no abnormal situation, press the
confirmation button of the local controller, and then press the bogie lowering button of the main
console; the three sets of bogies will be simultaneously lowered to the null position.
5.3
5.3 Operation of the optional maintenance
5.3.1
5.3.1 Lifting of all bogies

1) Turn the vehicle body/bogie switch of the main console and maintenance local controller to
bogie, and make the local control single operation panel switch on the main console display
screen show the bogie switch.

2) After confirming that there is no abnormal situation, press the confirmation button of the local
controller and then press the bogie lifting button of the main console; three sets of bogies will be
simultaneously lifted to 100mm.

3 When the site operation personnel confirm that there is no abnormal situation, press the
confirmation button of the local controller and then press the bogie lifting button of the main
console;the three sets of bogies will be simultaneously lifted to 950mm.
5.3.2
5.3.2 Lifting of all vehicle bodies

1) Turn the vehicle body /bogie switch of the main console and local controller to vehicle body, and
make the local control single operation panel switch on the main console display screen show the
vehicle body switch.

2) Press the confirmation button of the local controller, and then press the vehicle body lifting
button of the main console; three sets of vehicle bodies will be simultaneously lifted, and will stop

5.3.3 To-be-repaired bogie lowering

1) Turn the vehicle body/bogie switch of the main console and maintenance local controller to
bogie, and make the local control single operation panel switch on the main console display
screen show the bogie switch.

2) After confirming that there is no abnormal situation, press the confirmation button of the local
controller, and then press the bogie lowering button of the main console; the bogies needing
maintenance will be simultaneously lowered to the height of850mm, and the bogies needing no
maintenance will not move.

3) When the site operation personnel make sure that all connecting pieces are completely
disassembled, he shall press the confirmation button of the local controller, and then press the
bogie lowering button of the main console; the bogies needing maintenance will be
simultaneously lowered to the height of 350mm.

4) When the site operation personnel make sure that there is no abnormal situation, press the bogie
lowering button of the main console, and press the confirmation button of the local controller
needing maintenance; the bogies needing maintenance will be simultaneously lowered to the null
position.
5.3.4
5.3.4 Simultaneous lifting of all vehicle bodies and bogies needing no maintenance

1) Turn the vehicle body /bogie switch of the main console and local controller to vehicle body, and
make the local control single operation panel switch on the main console display screen show the
vehicle body switch.

2) Press the vehicle body lifting button of the main console, which will simultaneously lift all vehicle
body lifting units and bogies needing no maintenance; at this time, the height of the bogies needing
no maintenance is 1,550mm, the height of the end vehicle body lifting units is 2,230mm, and the
height of the middle vehicle body lifting unit is 1,778mm.

3) After the maintenance of bogies, the operation personnel shall push the bogies to the maintenance
position.
5.3.5
5.3.5 Simultaneous lowering of all vehicle bodies and bogies needing no maintenance

1) Turn the vehicle body /bogie switch of the main console and local controller to vehicle body, and
make the local control single operation panel switch on the main console display screen show the
vehicle body switch.

2) Press the vehicle body lowering button of the main console, and then press the confirmation
button of the local controller, the bogies needing no maintenance will first be lowered to the height
of 1,515mm, and then simultaneously lowered with all vehicle body lifting units; at this time, the
height of the bogies needing no maintenance is 950mm, the height of the end vehicle body lifting
units is 1,630mm, and the height of the middle vehicle body lifting unit is 1,778mm.

bogie, and make the local control single operation panel switch on the main console display
screen show the bogie switch.

6 Work after operation
6.1
6.1 Confirm that the Fixed Car Lifting Jack is lowered to the lowest position, and make sure that the
wheel is on the rail bridge; then place the brake shoes and hang the plate of no moving.

6.2 OFF
6.2 Turn the switch key of the console to the position of OFF, and then take out the key and properly
keep it; disconnect the main power switch of the Fixed Car Lifting Jack.
6.3 DCC
6.3 Recover the equipment, clean the site, count the tools, and cancel the registration of DCC.
