Commitment to Students and Student Learning developing as expected

I am very committed to the students. I treat every student equal, and even if there is a behavioural issue one
day, the next day I act like nothing happened the next and try just as hard to get them involved.
I always show my passion for teaching and wanting them to learn, I do little ice breaker games and activities
to get the students up out of their seats. I have learned and modified a few activities to make it work better for
these students. I always try to be as encouraging as possible and tell students when I appreciate a certain
behavior or attitude.

Knowledge developing as expected

For teaching the curriculum for the first time ever I believe I am doing well.
I always review the subject matter before teaching it.
I always try to include Indigenous views.

Teaching Practice developing as expected

I always plan my lessons before doing them.

I am trying to take advantage of the resources the school has, I have gone out and bought a few art supplies
and took out the Lorax book from our Education Linrary.
I enjoy to use the classroom to its full potential and move the desks around occasionally for different
activities. I find changing things up and getting students moving helps motivate them.
Time management is something I am learning, and learning through experience with these specific students.
I understand every group of people are going to do things at different speeds. I am continuously learning how
to deal with these great students I have.

Professionalism developing as expected

I always try my best to be conscious of how I treat the students because I treat them how I expect them to
treat me the same back.

As the days pass I am continuously using my judgment of how they react to different things I do to come to a
conclusion of what works best with this group. For example, they react really well when I get them into a
circle for read aloud and bribing them with taking them to Boulder Bear (where I work).

Leadership and Community developing as expected

Now that I am more comfortable my enthusiasm has emerged more.

Conflict resolution is something that is constantly changing with different situations and with different
students.
I have a hard time deciding how I want to teach things, because I want to do it differently, but that just
consumes more of my free time.
I am trying to be the best leader I can, constantly being aware of how I act because I want to lead by
example.
I am also helping coach the junior volleyball; I go every recess and lunch to help with practice.

Ongoing Professional Learning developing as expected

Learning from experience is what this whole placement is about. I try my best to reflect on how well the class
responds to my different class management techniques and activities.
I really appreciate all the constructive feedback my associate gives me. He is very realistic which I
appreciate.

COMMENTS
Teacher Candidate's Growth Plan

For the remainder of my placement I am going to focus on:

- continue to develop my lesson and pay attention to student differences (ex; some students need more help
in certain subjects, go "check up" on them more)
- continue to familiarize myself with the subject matter and curriculum
- continue develop my classroom management strategies
- continue to address classroom behaviours when they are affecting the learning environment
- develop effective assessment strategies that include learning skills and success criteria

By submitting this self-assessment form, I agree that I have consulted with my associate teacher
