Higher Education For API Students The Problem:

Currently, there are more than 17 million

Mission Statement:
-We want to provide
better opportunities for
API students to increase
graduation rates.
-Providing students with
the personal and quality
attention they deserve.
Conducting Research:
-We were able to conduct a survey with students from
different high schools to find out if the college
programs they have on campus are giving them all the
resources they need. The main focus is on API students
because we feel that they need the most individual
help. As API students ourselves we believe that we
have become the underrepresented.
-Our survey consisted of questions which would assess
the different school programs both high schools and
colleges provide for students. What we need to find is
what is missing in those programs that API students
need.
Asians and over 50,000 Pacific Islanders
in the United State.
They only make up 5.4 percent of the
population and is projected to grow to 9.3
percent by 2060.
Disaggregating the race and ethnicity of
Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders cuts an
already small minority group into even smaller
factions.
The Solution:
Our coalition group are planning to inform the
API students that are currently in high school
about the steps of gaining higher education.
We'll also include our experience as college
bound students and how we attained it as a
minority. We will formally deliver ways of
furthering more than high school and so that
they can use us as a resource for assistance and
questionings.

The Project:
- We created a survey to see how prepared students are for college
- We visited local high schools and hosted a student panel as a way to reach out to the
students and provide a more personal approach
