Distribution Amplifiers

1. For a network with 40 dB losses, if the input is 0 dB and with a gain of 30dB, it would end
up with -10 dB output signal. Therefore it is not suitable.

2. 0 dB input, 50 dB gain with an amplifier having 50 dB output capability where Vin=0 dBmV
(1000V)

Output = 0+50 dBmV

50 = 20 log ( /1000)
Vout = 316.2mV

3. If input is -12 dB (250 V)

Output = -12+50 dB
=38dB
38 = 10 log ( /250)
Vout = 19.8mV

4. If input = 20 dB
Output power of Amp = 20 dB + 50 dB
= 70 dB
Output capability of amplifier has been exceeded and cannot be recommended.
