Experiment : AGITATION OF LIQUIDS

Objectives of the Experiment
1. Compare visually the fluid motion in a baffled and an unbaffled tank agitated by a mechanical impeller.
2. Investigate the effect of the impeller speed on the power requirement for agitation.
3. Calculate the theoretical power requirements for agitation and compare with experimentally determined
values.
4. Determine the time required to achieve complete mixing in a baffled or unbaffled tank using an
electrolyte tracer.
5. Design a large-scale mixer using data obtained from the small-scale agitation experiments.

Results & Discussion

Objective 1:
Present the results using the most effective format: table, plot, etc Tables and plots must be
appropriately labeled such that it can tell a story on its own. Figure number and titles must be
placed below the figure whereas the table number and titles must be placed above the table.
Describe the results, highlighting the relevant trends and other features of the results that you wish
the reader to see. Descriptions should have direct relation to the objective.
Discuss the trends in the results by tying it up to relevant theories and principles. Also discuss
anomalies in the results with respect to expected trends.

Objective 2:
Use the same structure as above.

Objective 3:
Use the same structure as above.
