TITLE: Energy Distribution Management System using FPGA/
MATLAB/ SIMULINK
[selected from the list]

Project description:
Currently, many countries including Ethiopia are facing a great challenge due to rapid increase in
power demand as a consequence of industrial advancement, increase in population and
improvement of living standards which pose a serious problem for power distribution systems.
Use of renewable energy sources such as sun, wind and water can be harnessed to create
electricity without adding carbon dioxide to the air.
In spite of renewable energy resources significant advantage in building carbon resilient green
economy and narrowing power demand gap, energy management is a fundamental issue because
managing renewable energy resources with electric utility is a challenging problem. A better
management and distribution methods than the existing systems is necessary to guarantee
efficient utilization of the available energy.
Therefore, in this research, efficient Energy Distribution Management System will be designed
for monitoring efficient load monitoring of electric utility and hybrid renewable energy systems.
Then, performance of the Energy Management System will be compared with normal systems.
TITLE: Automatic Phase Change over for 3 Phase System using
Micro-controller

Project description:
This project is going to be designed to check the availability of any live phase, and the load will
be connected to the live phase only. This feat is achieved with microcontroller. This controller
continuously checks for live condition of all the phases connected to it, and the controller
connects the load the load to the active phase Relay, live phase, controller, rectifier, using a
relay. The relay is driven with a transistor. If two or three phases are live, the phase will be
connected to the phase that is ON only and automatically transferred to the phase that is ON in
the event of a main outage or from generator back to main when restored. An LCD is provided to
display the status of the phase condition.
