Last weekend, there was a burglary at my home.

I was asleep when I heard a sudden

thud from the living room. Instant fear took hold of me. My parents were out to attend a relatives
wedding and would always call out my name if they were home. As the footsteps drew nearer,
chills run up my spine

(call out, fear took hold of, drew nearer, asleep, sudden thud, were out, chills run up my
spine )

I instinctively grabbed my phone and quickly slid myself under the bed. Luckily, there were
boxes under the bed, which I used to hide my body. My hands were sweating as I set my phone
to silent mode. I was just finishing sending S.O.S ( Send Out succour) messages to my next door
neighbour and my parents phone when the bedroom door squeaked open. Through little spaces
between the boxes, I saw two pairs of feet walking into the room. They stopped at the table and
it sounded as if they took my laptop before they went out. All that while, I could only pray in my
heart that they would not notice me. It was a blessing that they did not. My next door neighbour
suddenly blasted the music loudly, which made the burglars left quickly. When my parents
returned home in hurry, with the police behind them, I was still panic-stricken. It was truly a
nightmarish experience.

(sweating, set, squeaked, grabbed, slid, hide, panic-stricken, nightmarish, stopped at,
sounded, went out, notice, did not, blasted, walking into, left, returned, hurry)

It is my two cents of thought that there are three ways to prevent home burglary. First, we
ought to ensure that the windows and doors are always locked. This is to safeguard whoever
that is left in house. Secondly, we should opt for an alarm system in our house. This will serves
a warning purpose alarming the house owners of intruders. Last but not least, there should be
more patrols done by police and responsible parties.
