Level: Grades 8-11

This activity will involve both a face-to-face environment and access to online resources.

Apply appropriate strategies in a variety of contexts to comprehend written, oral, visual,


and multimodal texts; guide inquiry; and extend thinking (ELA: New Media 10)
Use writing and design processes to plan, develop, and create engaging and meaningful
literary, imaginative, and informational texts for a variety of purposes and audiences
(ELA: Composition 10)
Reflect on, assess, and refine texts to improve their clarity, effectiveness, and impact
according to purpose, audience, and message (ELA: Composition 10)

Summary of Tasks / Actions:

Culminating Project: Students are to create a research based presentation on their topic. The
research is based on their questions and the additional questions of their peers (from the fifth
exercise). As in the sixth exercise, they should be able to show how their questions guided their
writing/representation for this project. Each classroom of students are to develop the criteria for
this assignment and they are also to develop the rubric for grading. It is worth the majority of
marks for the unit.

The culminating project for this exercise can be found in the handout/exercise at the end of this
unit entitled Culminating Project: Enhancing Questioning Skills.
