ISKCON Temple Tipu Sultans Summer Palace

International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has built the ISKCON
Temple in Bangalore the largest of ISKCON Temples in the world dedicated to
Lord Krishna. Devotees from across the world visit the ISKCON Temple for
spiritual enlightenment. The golden dwajastambha or flag post, and kalash
shikara are the corner stones of the architectural beauty of the temple with
drinking water, hygienic washrooms, elevators for senior citizens and disabled,
clear signage, and, a variety of prasada from traditional sweets to cakes and
muffins.
ISKON Temple Darshan Timings: 4.15 am to 5 am, 7.15 am to 12.50 pm and 4 pm
to 8.20 pm every day.
Tipu Sultans Summer Palace also known as RasheJannat or Envy of the
Heavens, in Bangalore was the summer residence of Tipu Sultan. Construction of
the Palace was started by Tipus father Hyder Ali inside the Bangalore Fort in
1781 and was completed by Tipu Sultan in 1791. Tipus Palace is completely built
of French Rosewood, to look similar to the Palace in Srirangapattana. Tipus
Palace is a two story building with exquisite frescoes, carved pillars, arches and
balconies. The palace has four rooms situated in the four corners in the top floor.
Tipu Sultan used to address his durbar from the balconies. There is a small
museum on the second floor. Tipu Sultan also mastered rockets for his warfare;
there are a couple of rockets which are displayed in the palace museum along
Tipu and Hyder Ali paintings, swords and armaments from the era. The museum
houses a replica of the famous Tipu's Tiger toy depicting a tiger attacking a
British soldier complete with sound effects of a tiger roaring.

Tipus Palace Timings: 10 am to 6 pm. Closed on Sundays.

Tipus Palace Entry Fees: Rs.10/ for Indians, Rs.100/ for Foreigners. Camera

Bull Temple Lal Bagh

Bull Temple or the Dodda Basavana Gudi was built in 1537 AD by the then
chieftain Kempe Gowda of the Vijayanagara Empire, who also built the city of
Bangalore. Bull Temple dedicated to Nandi the vehicle of Lord Shiva, the temple
also has deities of Lord Shiva & Ganesha. The temple is built in Vijayanagara
Architectural style with the worlds largest monolith statue of Nandi which is 15
feet tall and 20 feet long. The temple courtyards play host for the annual
groundnut festival which sees different varieties of groundnuts from all over
South India.
Bull Temple Timings: 6 am to 8 pm every day.
Lal Bagh or the Red Garden, is a 240 acre lung space for Bangalore city and has
been so from 1760 when Hyder Ali commissioned it. Lalbagh is a botanical garden
housing the famous Glass House, Indias largest collection of rare tropical plants,
aquarium, lake and the east tower of Kempe Gowda the founder of Bangalore.
Lalbagh was planned in the lines of Mughal Gardens by Hyder Ali, the gardens
were completed by his son Tipu Sultan who enriched it by getting plants and
trees from several countries across the globe. The Glass House modeled on
Londons Crystal Palace and the Band Stand were built by the British James
Cameron, the then Superintendent of Lalbagh in the last years of the 19th
Century. Lalbagh holds the biannual flowershows which are very popular with
city dweller and tourist alike.

Lalbagh Timings: 6 am to 7 pm every day.

Lalbagh Entry Fee: Rs.10/.

Traveler Tip: Take a guided tour in ecofriendly buggies, Rs. 100 per head and get
to know more about the centuriesold trees and collections of plants from around
the world.

Nehru Planetarium was established in 1989 with a 15 meter dome and a seating

on the dome along with slides, videos, and special effects.
Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium Timings: 4.30 pm English Show. Closed on
Mondays, and Second Tuesdays.
The Musical Fountain was commissioned in 1996 in a 17 acre plot opposite the
Nehru Planetarium. The Musical Fountain is based on latest technology and is
adaptable for Indian and Western music. Each show at the Musical Fountain lasts
nearly 25 minutes.
Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain Timings: 7 pm to 7.30 pm and 8 pm to 8.30 pm.
Closed on Mondays and Second Tuesdays.
