Serbian Government

Background

The Republic of Serbia is a republic government with its


capital in Belgrade. This legal system is based off of the
new Serbian Constitution created in 2006. Their
legislature is a unicameral assembly of 250 seats.
Serbian Constitution states that Serbia is a state of the
Serbian people and all its citizens, based on the rule of
law and social justice, the principles of civil democracy,
human and minority rights and freedoms, and
commitment to European principles and values
(Serbia.com, 2016)

Political System

The political system is separated through the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. The
legislative branch includes the National Assembly which has 250 members that are elected.

The executive branch includes 18 ministries, 2 vice presidents, and a prime minister. The
current Prime Minister is Aleksandar Vui.

President

The president of Serbia represents the country. The presidents answers to the citizens of the
republic. The president is elected every five years. Currently the president is Tomislav Nikoli.

Judicial Branch

The judicial branch consists of 15 judges in the constitutional court chosen by the national
assembly. The National Bank of Serbia handles all monetary policy.
