THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA

The Executive Branch
Presidency
South Koreas President, the head of the Executive Office, is
selected by a simple majority vote once every five years. A
president is only allowed to serve a single five-year term and
then a new official must be elected into office. This is different Park Geun-hye is the

consisting of 300 members elected from 300 districts that
South Korea is divided into. The terms of an Assemblyperson

This body differs from the Legislative Branch of the United
States in one key way: unlike the United States, South Korea
has only a single body within the Legislative Branch, as The National Assembly of

The Judicial Branch

Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of South Korea differs greatly from that of
the United States. The court consists of a single Chief Justice
and 13 ancillary Justices. The Chief Justice is selected, with
approval, by the President to serve a single six-year term. All The Supreme Court of
other court members are selected by the National Assembly. South Korea
This is a massive departure from the United States, where
every Justice is selected by the President, it is a lifelong
commitment, and the court consists of only nine Justices.
