A long time ago there lived a young couple, a man and his wife. His wife was
expecting their baby. She wanted a plant that only grew in her neighbours
garden. She wanted it so much. She even intended to steal it hearself, but later
on, she sent her husband to steal it.
Unfortunately, Mother Gothel, the owner of the garden, caught him doing it.
She was a witch. Then, Mother Gothel forced the couple to give their first baby to
her.
A few months later, the baby was born. It was girl and named Rapunzel. Soon,
this baby was taken away to live with Mother Gothel. Rapunzel grew to be a
beautiful young girl with her long golden hair.
At first she was cared for in a normal way. When she reached puberty, she was
locked in a tower so that she would never leave Mother Gothel. The tower stood
in the forest. It could only be entered by climbing on Rapunzels long hair. To
cheer herself up, she loved to sing.
One day, a young prince was out hunting. He stumbled upon the tower. He
heard Rapunzels beautiful voice. He decided that he must meet her. He spied
and, by watching Mother Gothel, learned the words he had to say to have
Rapunzel drop her hair. The prince visited her often and then they fell in love.
Then, Rapunzel made a plan to escape from the tower. She wanted to be with
the prince. She asked the prince to bring her a skein of silk each time he visited.
She might weave a ladder for her escape. Unfortunately, Mother Gothel caught
on. Then, she banished Rapunzel to the desert. She threw the prince from the
tower into a thorny bush. The thorns made the prince blind and he roamed the
earth searching for his love.
Eventually, they found each other, and the princes eyes were healed by
Rapunzels tears of happiness.
Once upon a time there was a beautiful girl called Sarah. She lived with her
stepmother. Her stepmother was very bossy, greedy and arrogant. She hated
Sarah a lot.
One day when her father was working outside, the stepmother hit Sarah and
expelled her from the house. She went outside and walked far away from the
house. Suddenly she saw a big melon farm and went in it. After that she hid in a
big melon. She used to go out of the melon to get her food.
One day a prince visited the farm and saw the big melon. Cut this melon, I
want to eat it, the prince said. The princes guard started to cut the melon but
they heard a voice from it. Sarah said, Dont cut me please! They were all
surprised at this situation. The prince said Who are you? Calm down, please
come out. After that she came out. The prince fell in love after looking at Sarah.
She told him her story so the prince decided to marry her and they lived
happily ever after.

The Legend of Nyi Roro Kidul

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess named Kadita. Because of her
beauty she was called Dewi Srengenge. It means the goddess of sun. Her father
was King Munding Wangi. Although he had a beautiful daughter, he was unhappy
because he always expected to have a son.
The King decided to marry Dewi Mutiara. He has a son from her. Dewi Mutiara
wanted her son to become a king in the future. She asked the King to send his
daughter away. The King did not agree.
Dewi Mutiara called a black wizard to curse Kadita. She wanted Kaditas
beautiful body full of ulcer. Then, Kaditas body was full of ulcer. It smelled bad.
The beautiful princess cried.
The King was very sad. No one could cure his daughters illness. The King did
not want her daughter to be a rumor so he sent his daughter away.
The poor princess did not know where to go. However, she had a noble heart.
She did not have any bad feeling about her stepmother. She walked for almost
seven days and seven nights. Then, she came to the South Ocean. The ocean
was so clean and clear. She jumped into the water and swam.
Suddenly, there was a miracle. The ocean water her illness. She become more
beautiful than before. She also had a power to command the whole South Ocean.
She became a fairy called Nyi Roro Kidul or The Queen of South Ocean.
Once there was a young man called Lebai Malang. He was still a bachelor. He
lived in a village near a river in Central Sumatera.
One day Lebai was very confused, because he was invited to attend two
parties. One was in the Northern village and the other was in Southern. He knew
that people in the Northern village were clever at cooking. Whatever they cooked
it tasted very delicious, but on that day they killed just one buffalo. The people in
the Southern village couldnt cook. Whatever they cooked is tasted salty, but
they killed so many buffaloes, goats, and deers.
Where did Lebai decided to go? To go North or South? in the end Lebai made up
his mind to go North by boat. On his way to the Northern village, he saw many
people going there How can I get food? he thought. Then he turned his boat to
the Southern village. When he nearly got there, he changed his mind again,
because he knew very well that the people in the Southern village couldnt cook.
Then he turned his boat again to the Northern village. He felt very tired,
because he rowed against the stream. What happened to him when he got to the
Southern village? The party had been finished. Then he returned home. When he
got home, he saw just rice, no-side dish. So he decided to go fishing. He took his
fishing rod and put some rice inside a banana leaf. After waiting for an hour, he
didnt catch any fish while he felt very hungry. When he would open the banana
leaf, the boat moved and the rice fell into the water. Since then all the people
had called him UNLUCKY TEACHER or LEBAI MALANG.
