Round Overview
Phase 1: A New Viking
Take the leftmost Viking from the Banquet Table and place it on the Thing Square on the Home Board
Phase 2: Harvest
Receive Orange Goods that correspond with the harvest level:
1 Receive one of each crop with a 1: Peas, Beans, and Flax
1-2 Receive one of each crop with a 1 or 2: Peas, Beans, Flax, and Grain
1-3 Receive one of each crop with a 1 to 3: Peas, Beans, Flax, Grain, and Cabbage
1-4 Receive one of each crop with a 1 to 4: Peas, Beans, Flax, Grain, Cabbage, and Fruits
No Harvest
Phase 3: Turn Exploration Boards and Placing Silver
Turn over Exploration Boards on the Rounds indicated on the Home Board
On each round where an Exploration Board should be flipped (even if that board has already been claimed), place 2 Silver on the other
Exploration Boards
Remove Silver from an Exploration Board when it is flipped
Phase 4: Draw a New Weapon
Each player draws a new Weapon Card and places it face up in their supply
Phase 5: Actions
Beginning with the Start Player and continuing in a clockwise, place Vikings on one unoccupied space of the Action Board
Continue until all Players have passed or placed all their available Vikings
Once a Player has passed, they cannot place any more Vikings that round
Phase 6: Determine Start Player
The Player who placed the last Viking during the Action phase receives the Start Player marker
Phase 7: Income
Receive Income based on the smallest uncovered value on the Income diagonal of your Home Board and Exploration Board
Important: You must cover Income values in ascending diagonal order
Note: You can only cover an Income value if all spaces to the left, below, and within the square area to the bottom left of the Income space
have been covered
Phase 8: Animal Breeding
Non-pregnant Sheep (2) Pregnant Sheep (3) / Non-pregnant Cow (3) Pregnant Cow (4)
If you have at least 2 Sheep and no pregnant Sheep, turn 1 Sheep to the Pregnant side
If you have at least 2 Cows and no pregnant Cows, turn 1 Cow to the Pregnant side
If you had a pregnant Sheep from last round, flip that Sheep to the non-pregnant side and take 1 non-pregnant Sheep tile
If you had a pregnant Cow from last round, flip that Cow to the non-pregnant side and take 1 non-pregnant Cow tile
Important: If you have 4 non-pregnant Sheep (or Cows), only 1 Sheep (or Cow) is turned to the pregnant side
Note: If you have 3 Sheep (or Cows), one of which is pregnant, the pregnant one gets a newborn, the others remain non-pregnant
Also: If you have 2 Sheep (or Cows), one of which is pregnant, and the non-pregnant animal is spent during the Action phase, the pregnant
animal still receives a newborn
Phase 9: Feast
Place Orange Tiles, Red Tiles, and/or Silver coins on the empty spaces of the Banquet Table
Orange Tiles cannot be placed next to each other
Red Tiles cannot be placed next to each other
Silver coins can be placed next to each other
One of each tile type may be placed horizontally, all other tiles of the same type must be placed vertically (square tiles are exempt)
Tiles must fit within the allowed space on the Banquet Table, no overhang
For each space on the Banquet Table that you could not fill or did not want to fill you take a Thing Penalty (-3 points)
Return goods from the Banquet Table to the General Supply
Phase 10 : Bonus
Goods Spaces on the Home Board (and other player boards) are considered covered, but can be covered with Goods Tiles, if needed.
If a Goods Space is left uncovered and the 8 spaces around it are covered (6 spaces for Good Spaces on the edge of the board), you receive
the Bonus Good each round.
Silver earned during the Income phase can be used to surround a Goods Space prior to the Bonus phase to receive the Bonus Good.
Phase 11: Update and Add New Mountain Strips
Remove the leftmost Resource from each face-up Mountain.
Remove any empty Mountains.
Turn over a new Mountain and place the depicted goods on it.
In a 4-Player game there will not be a Mountain added in Round 7.
Phase 12: Remove Vikings from the Action Board
Return your Vikings from the Action Board to your Thing Square
Game Setup
Each player receives 1 light brown Starter Occupation Card - 1 Bow and Arrow, 1 Snare, 1 Spear Weapon Cards - 1 Mead Tile
Note: Always keep all tiles and cards face up in front of you and visible to all Players
Place a Viking on each number square of the Banquet Table and the rest of your Vikings in the Thing Square
Place 2 Mountains face up (3 in a 4-Player game) and placed the depicted goods on each face up Mountain
Place the 4 Exploration Boards with their lettered side (A-D in the bottom right corner) face up
Place the Shed, Stone House, and Long House tiles in separate stack
