Part one: Style Analysis

Individual Activity
This assignment will serve as an Individual Formative Assessment for this
unit.

The purpose of Part 1 of this assignment is to help you reflect upon and
analyze the characteristics of Zusaks writing to gain a better understanding
of Zusaks style before completing your final essay.

Style is the unique way in which a writer communicated his or her ideas.
Style is a result of every choice the author makes: word choice (diction),
sentence structures (Syntax), Tone (authors attitude), images (word
pictures), figurative language (metaphor, simile, personification), use of
symbolism, description, etc.

You will be assigned one of six sections. Look carefully at the section you
have been assigned. Read it closely, considering the style used by the author
to make his ideas clear. Then complete the chart on the reverse of this page.

This is an independent task. You will share your findings to your classmates
in groups of 6. One person is responsible for covering the analysis of each
section.
