To Whom It May Concern,

As a recent graduate from Agnes Scott College with a Bachelors Degree of Public
Health, I am excited to apply to the Public Health Program at the University of Memphis.
I am particularly interested in the Social and Behavioral Sciences concentration offered
at the University.

I am interested in Social and Behavioral Sciences concentration because I want to

better understand the choices people make, the reasons behind the choices, and the
impact they have on health. In addition to studying social and behavioral aspects of
Public Health, I want to focus on Nutrition and the social aspects that go into those
choices. I feel that once I obtain this degree I will be able to work as Community Health
Worker and be able to truly make a change for those who are disadvantaged.

During my undergraduate career at Agnes Scott College, I was a very active participant
on campus. I was a member of Witkaze, the Black Student Union. In this organization, I
discovered my passion for working with marginalized groups. As a member of Witkaze, I
participated in AIDS Walk Atlanta and Mentor Walk, which helped to bring awareness
to different marginalized groups. Public Health Club was the second club that I
participated in. This club fostered my love for Public Health and specifically Health
Promotion with a focus on the power of social interactions and behaviors. These two
clubs helped me discover my passion for Public Health. I believe that my experiences
during my undergraduate studies and the clubs/ organizations have prepared me for the
continued study of Public Health in the Graduate Program at the University of Memphis.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. Please feel free to contact me
if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Amber Ellington
