Bold City (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated

2017 Scholarship Application

Purpose:
The purpose of the Bold City (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated Scholarship is to provide
undergraduate and Graduate scholarship awards to students who are enrolled in, or seeking
entry to, a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). The Bold City (FL) Chapter of the
Links, Inc. Scholarship will focus on the importance of service to the community.

Awards:
o One undergraduate scholarship award is available in the amount of $2,000 to a student
enrolled in Edward Waters College, Jacksonville, Florida.
o One Graduate scholarship award is available in the amount of $2,000 to a female
student seeking entry to, or currently enrolled in an HBCU graduate school in the state
of Florida.
o All scholarship awards will be paid directly to the recipients.
o Academic Standing: Minimum required cumulative GPA of 2.50

Eligibility:
To be considered for a Bold City (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated scholarship award,
applicants must complete an application packet (See attached Bold City (FL) Chapter of the
Links, Incorporated, 2017 Scholarship Application) and return it to the Bold City (FL) Links
Chapter by April 20, 2017. The application packet must include:

1. A completed scholarship application form. Only completed and signed application


forms will be considered.
2. One letter of recommendation which provides supporting documentation of the applicants
community service.
3. An official college transcript including GPA.
4. A one page, 500-word essay using the essay prompt below:

Essay Prompt:
Community service and volunteerism strengthen communities. Discuss your involvement
in a community service project or volunteer activity that benefited or strengthened the
community.

Application Packets must be submitted by April 20, 2017.
