About the program
Phytoconstituents of high purity are increasingly
being used as marker compounds (Phytochemical
Reference Standards) for analysis of herbs and the
products made from them for the quality control
purpose as well as for determining their biological
activity. In addition, enriched or isolated pure
phytoconstituents from plants are also used in
Nutraceutical field. However, the field is challenging
and requires adequately trained personnel for
extraction and isolation of phytoconstituents from
plants. Considering this need 2 Day Workshop cum
hands on training on Extraction and Isolation of
Phytoconstituents from medicinal plants/ herbs is
designed. The workshop will cover practical aspects of
herbal drug extraction and isolation using pilot scale
extractor, etc; extraction of herbal drugs; isolation of
components belonging to different chemical classes;
selection of method of extraction, isolation and
analysis using HPLC/ HPTLC/ GC etc. The participants
will be exposed to hands on experience on different
extraction and isolation techniques.
