Hail: PNU Celebrates its 114th

Foundation

Philippine Normal University Manila (PNU) will be celebrating its 114 th Founding
Anniversary on September 1 4, 2015. The Office of the University Relations and
Advancement (URA), through the University Events Management and Public
Relations Office (UEMPRO), successfully organized a week-long of fun-filled activities
to be participated by faculty, staff, and students of the University.
As part of the celebration, PNU is proud to announce the conferment upon Dr. John
Pegg of the degree of Doctor of Education (honoris causa) on September 2 at 9am
at the Geronima Pecson Hall.
Dr. John Pegg is a Professor of Education and the Foundation Director of the SiMERR
National Research Centre. Pegg is known for his contribution to theory-based
cognition research which focused on the development of learners understanding
and teacher professional growth. He is recognized as a world authority on the SOLO
Model of Cognitive Development.
Another highlight of the Foundation Week Celebration is PNUs adaptation of
Severino Montanos The Love of Leonor Rivera on September 4 at 1pm and 4pm
timeslots at the AV Theatre. It is a three-act play about Leonor Riveras undying love
for the countrys National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal and how she persistently waited for
Rizal to come back from Europe. It was first staged at the Arena Theater of PNU in
1952.

Montanos effective attempt in inspiring Filipino playwrights, directors, and actors

led to the discovery of several successful personalities of today, among whom are
Behn Cervantes, Emmanuel Borlaza, Rolando S. Tinio, and Joonee Gamboa.
