SPECIAL EVENT REPORT FORM

Your Name: Michaea Vaughn

Year and Semester: 2016-2017, Semester II
Name/Description of Special Event: Womens March
Date of Special Event: January 21, 2017

Each DCIS student must attend two special events each semester. The special events are intended to deepen your knowledge of
international affairs and cultures and to provide contact with international activities and organizations outside of school. You may
use the following questions as guidelines as you write a solid paragraph below describing how this Special Event connects to
specific outcomes in the four Global Leadership domains:

How did you identify this opportunity to participate in this Special Event (did someone recruit you to go, did you find out
about it yourself, was it part of a club, was it a school-sponsored event that was not part of a class, etc.)?
In which of the four domains of Global Leadership (Investigate the World, Recognize Perspectives, Communicate Ideas,
or Take Action) does this event best fit?
Choose 2 specific outcomes under that Global Leadership domain and provide evidence of your learning related to each
outcome.

Description of how this special event connects to outcomes in the Global Leadership Domains:
I identified this opportunity through my mom. I also saw information about it on social media. This
special event connects to Take Action because women in Denver and around the world rallied together to
protest. Under this domain, the student must identify collaborators across disciplines and industries and create
opportunities for individual or collaborative action to improve a situation, event, or issue. On January 21, 2017,
women created an opportunity to collaborate across cultural divisions and focus on the things that unite us
based on gender. We also planned our actions based on evidence (protesting) that indicates potential for impact
taking into account protests in the past and social change/political movements. That said, everyone who
attended the march contributed to change in their community and advocated for womens rights. I learned more
about women in Denver through attending this march.
