This article discusses about the relationship between bullys behaviour and parenting styles
amongst elementary schools students and was written by Norlizah Che Hassan from
Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2015.

Purpose

The research was conducted to study is to investigate the relationship between bullys
behaviour and parenting styles amongst elementary school children. Some of the objectives
are to determine the bullys behaviour among the elementary school students, to determine
the differences in parenting styles by parents and targeted child gender, and to determine the
relationship between the bullys behaviour and the parenting styles among elementary school
children. The writer raised the questions such as Is the Malaysias education system is lack
somewhere? Parenting styles or children rearing styles at home has shaped their attitude in
life? As we know bullying among school students are getting serious nowadays and parents
themselves play an important role in order to shape the child.

Methodology

This study involves 270 students of elementary school students aged 11 years old. Half of
them is female and another half is male. Six schools have been selected, and the target
population in this study was the students from schools in Malacca. The investigated students
was randomly selected from six schools in district of Melaka Tengah. From the study shown
that both male and female students were likely to perform verbal assaults. Besides, from the
study it also shown that parents seem to treat their sons more strictly than their daughters.
