Students Plan Event In Response To Losses On Campus

Last Semester

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa, Feb. 15, 2016 -- Due to the loss of three UNI students last
semester, student leaders have planned an event that focuses on overall wellbeing. On
Tuesday, March 8, Student Wellness Services, Northern Iowa Student Government, and
Residence Hall Association will host Spring into Wellness.

This event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Maucker Union. Activities will include
walking the labyrinth, a drinking and driving simulator, impaired visions alcohol and
marijuana goggles, and de-stressing activities. In addition to the activities, many booths
will be outside of the ballroom showcasing all of the resources on campus for students.
These will include booths from Student Disability Services, Student Counseling Center,
To Write Love On Her Arms, and more.

Due to the tough semester on this campus last semester, we saw there was a need for
an event that gives students the resources to better all of their dimensions of wellbeing.
We also saw this as an opportunity to collaborate with other groups on campus and
make this accessible to as many students as possible, says Meghan Busswitz,
Residence Halls Association President. The event encompases learning about the eight
dimensions of wellness. These dimensions are emotional, environmental, financial,
intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual.

Residence Hall Association:

on campus students to enrich their time living on campus.
