Title of Project: Are We Doing Enough: A Study on the Effectiveness of Child Support Enforcement

Title of Research Paper: Love Does Not Always Last: A Legal Analysis of Divorce

Synopsis of Research Paper:

In this paper, I discussed child custody, child support, and visitation, explained how the best
interests of the child affects each aspect, and how the impact of the divorce on the child is taken
into account. All parts of the paper were viewed under the pretense that child custody, child
support, and visitation fail to make a divorce easier on the couple and child or children involved
due to the vague language and lack of concern over the impact on the child.

Project Description:
For my project, I completed a large scale study where I asked participants whether they thought
our current child support enforcement was enough and if they had any ideas that would be better
than what we are currently doing. I then presented my findings and completed a panel discussion
with two attorneys and a DivorceCare support group leader.

Relationship between Project and Paper:

Both the project and the paper revolve around the topic of divorce. The paper dealt with the
overarching topic of divorce while the project dealt with the sub-category of child support.

My background experience in the area:

My parents got divorced when I was seven, and over the past eleven years, I have watched my
mother struggle without the child support that my father owed while all forms of enforcement
never pushed him to pay the money that he owed.

Special things Id like judges to consider and look for:

I would like the judges to consider that this was the first time anyone had completed a large scale
study, so I had nothing to reference and no way of expecting what would happen. I would also
like the judges to look for how much effort I put into this project, and how passionate I was
about what I was doing.
