So what is in my ears?
As a child I got asked this question quite
frequently. When I was four years old I had
my hearing tested and I was found to have
moderate hearing loss in my right ear, and
severe hearing loss in my left ear. From a
young age Ive had to wear hearing aids in
both ears, and since its so uncommon for
children to wear them it obviously confused
other children around me. Growing up I
hated being different from my peers, and I
hated wearing my hearing aids. I used to get
different ear molds for my earing aids in
bright colors because I thought it was fun
and prettier to look at. Over time I have
come to accept my hearing aids and it
doesn't make me as uncomfortable to
explain them to people that ask.
