Conflict Resolution and Management

Student/Teacher-I worked with a student and teacher(s) to develop a plan

to help the student express concerns / needs in the classroom without being
disruptive. I talked with the student to gather input on the urgency felt vs.
actual urgency. The student checks in with me each week and things have
gotten better.
Grade Level-My principal and I worked with a grade level to discuss a
concern, as well as talk out a situation that occurred that was causing some
tension.
Student/Student-We have had several incidents this year with student /
student conflict. Sometimes these conflicts needed nothing more than being
able to sit down and talk it out. We have held a few restorative circles this
year with students to help deal with conflict. The circles have been
productive and the majority of the time the conflict did not continue.
Problem Solving-Since our school has multiple buildings and they are on
opposite ends of the campus, we have had to work through issues such as
supervision of students and transitions. My principal and I met with each
grade to discuss concerns and possible solutions. We also met with
enhancement teachers to do the same. Through discussions and some trial
and error, we were able to solve most of the issues we were having. Also
through these discussions our enhancement has moved to a solutions
orientation when bringing conflict and issues to the administrative team.
Parent / Teacher-I also worked over the course of a few months with a
parent and teacher conflict. I have facilitated a couple of meetings and
helped both parties come to a resolution both were okay with.
