Equipment: 5 Bows, 20 Arrows, 5 Targets, 10 Cones, Safety/Rules/Routines Posted, Peer Assessment

Focus of Lesson: Peer Assessment: seven steps of archery shooting

Student Performance Objectives (SPO):


By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

(P) Demonstrate shooting the bow correctly by following seven out of the seven steps of shooting throughout during the peer
assessment pre test. (S1.H1.L1) MACF 2.17

(C) Identify the seven steps of shooting the arrow prior to shooting when asked by the teacher during the introduction
(S2.H1.L1) MACF 2.21

(A) Discuss individual and peers progress throughout the unit by utilizing the pre and post test information during the closure of the
lesson. (S4.H1.L1) MACF 2.26

Teacher Performance Objectives During the lesson the teacher will:


Identify at least thirteen students by their first name
Reiterate safety protocols with verbal, visual, and demonstrations
Provide positive corrective feedback to at least fourteen students throughout the lesson
Special Considerations What are the safety concerns? What is unique about the students in the class?
- The students may start to be going at their own pace, make sure that they are still following the safety rules and
routines such as waiting to retrieve their arrows until everyone has shot.
- The students will start to feel more confident in shooting, depending on the level of the class, the teacher may be able to
loosen the reigns when it comes to shooting the arrows, but continue to enforce safety.
- Throughout the archery unit, we will be discussing safety a lot, reviewing it every day, and using proper terminology
for commands.
- Being outside requires more attention to students whereabouts and proximity control as compared to an enclosed
gymnasium
- Students must stand behind line when shooting and not retrieve arrows until everyone has shot and they have been
instructed to

TIME SEQUENCE OF LESSON ORGANIZATION REFLECTIONS
Introduction:
5 min - The teacher will take attendance in the gymnasium T
- The teacher will start by reviewing the all vocabulary
terms SSSSS
- The teacher will also review the lines such as the safety SSSSS
line and the shooting line, including the routines such as retrieving
the arrows.

3 min Transition: the students will travel outside to demonstrate the safety rules
and routines. Students will form five lines behind the cones and stand
facing the teacher for instruction. The students will make their own
groups, making sure that the lines are even.

Activity 2: Warm-Up S S S S S
- The students will stretch their wrists and arms before
beginning physical activity. T
- The students will each get about 3 shots for a warm-up s s s s s
depending on the time, making sure that they work at their own s s s s s
pace but dont retrieve their arrows until everyone has shot. s s s s s

Transition: the teacher will review the procedure for the peer assessment,
and have students form partners to assess.

Activity 2: Peer Assessment Post Test
- the students will honestly assess their peers for the
proficiency of performing the seven steps of shooting in archery. A
total of 28 points will be given for the students who perform each
skill at the utilization level of proficiency. The students will see
their results and hand in to the teacher to compare the pre and post
test peer assessment. T

2 min Transition: the students will return equipment to there they found it at the SSSSS
beginning of the lesson, and form a circle to discuss the closure

4 min Closure:
- The teacher will bring the students in for a closure. The
students will review their pre test and post test assessments and
see their progress
