1. Machu Picchu- Montaa Machu Picchu, Peru


This is an ancient Inca site where they built a citadel in the 15th century. It is currently
abandoned and is available for tours. We currently do not know why it was built and
what they used it for. It is famous for the way they stuck the stones together without the
modern technology we use. It is only accessible by train or a four-day walk.

2. Giza Pyramids- Al Haram, Nazlet El-Semman, Al Haram, Giza Governorate, Egypt


These are the Pyramids at Giza, built by the ancient Egyptians. The biggest and most
intact is called the Great Pyramid. It is one of the wonders of the ancient world, because
we still dont know how they got those big blocks to stick together without modern

mortar.
3. Angkor Wat- Krong Siem Reap, Cambodia
This is the largest religious monument in the world. It was constructed as a Hindu temple
for the god Vishnu, and then it transformed into a Buddhist temple. One of the original
temples is still a religious site today

The colosseum and the forum are very important historical sites in Italy. The colosseum
is where the gladiators held their fights and where pretty much everyone in the city would
go to for a good time, the forum was a shopping place and a place where people could
exchange ideas.
5. The Parthenon- Athens 105 58, Greece-
The Parthenon is an ancient temple built by the Greeks to the goddess Athena. It is an
example of the way Greeks used to sculpt and their style of architecture, which
Americans have some of today in our buildings, like the White House columns

This is the Taj Mahal. It is basically the thing that comes to mind when thinking of India.
It is a burial site of the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan to bury his favorite wife, Mumtaz
Mahal when she died. There are tours of the building from sunrise to sunset.
7. The great wall of China- Huairou, China, 1014
The great wall of China was originally built to help keep the Chinese empire form being
attacked by the other tribes in the region. It is the longest wall in the world. It was built in
pieces and was later joined together. The wall had been rebuilt a couple of times and even
enhanced to preserve this historical landmark in China.

8. Mont Saint-Michel, Normandy


This is a religious city in Normandy, France. It is an island of strategic importance for the
French. It houses the monastery, from which it gets its name. the city is still built like a
feudal city, making it a great historical trip.
9. Palace of Westminster with Big Ben- Westminster, London SW1A 0AA, UK- +44 20

The palace of Westminster is where the two houses of parliament meet, the House of
Lords and the House of Commons. It would be cool for students to see the different way
that another country does their government business.

10. Palace of Versailles- Place d'Armes, 78000 Versailles, France


The palace of Versailles is a building in France commissioned by king Louis XIV to
house his court when he ruled in France. Today, it stands as a symbol of the absolute
monarchy in France during that time. It is an overly lavish building with expansive front
yards and stables.
