General introducction:
Sinaloa is one of the 31 states which, with the
Federal District, compose the 32 Federal
Entities of Mexico. It is divided in 18
municipalities. It is located in Northwestern
Mexico. Sinaloa is home to 2,767,761
inhabitants. Prior to the coming of the
Spaniards, much of Sinaloa was inhabited by
the Chita. In 1531 Nuo Beltrn de Guzmn
with a force of over 10,000 defeated a force of
30,000 Chita at the site of Culiacan. After
Mexican independence, Sinaloa was joined
with Sonora as Occidente State, but it
became a separate state in 1830.

The main groups that inhabited the region of
Sinaloa, before the arrival of the Spaniards,
were: los totorales, los tahues, los cahitas, los
xiximes, los acaxees, los achures, los
pacaxes and los tamazulas or guasaves.
Tourism:
The state of Sinaloa has significant
architectural and historical monuments and
grand colonial beauties. It has beautiful
beaches, folklore and cultural attractions,
hotel infrastructure expansion, among other
places. Mazatlan is the main tourist town
of this state.

The state covers an area of 57,377 square

kilometers, and includes some Islands. The
coastal plain is a narrow strip of land that
stretches along the length of the state and lies
between the ocean and the foothills of the
Sierra Madre Occidental Range, which
dominates the eastern part of the state.
Sinaloa is traversed by many rivers, which
carve broad valleys into the foothills.

Culiacan:
Is the largest city in the state of Sinaloa.
The city is home to two professional
league sport teams: baseball with the
Tomateros de Culiacn and soccer with
Los Dorados de Sinaloa. The main
tourist attractions are the Cathedral,
Imala, Altata, The Lomita, Botanical
garden and Difocur.

The main productive activities of Sinaloa

are agriculture, fishing, livestock breeding,
commerce and industry. The products
obtained from these activities are used for
both local and national consumption.
Agriculture produces tomatoes, beans,
corn, wheat, sorghum, potatoes,
soybeans, sugarcane and squash.
