BASE SHEAR(kN) BASE MOMENT

(MN.m)
Static analysis 25711.182 2742.232264
method
Gust factor 29128.00 3178.04
method

base moment and base shear calculated using Gust factor method is higher than static analysis method. Considering that the
building height is 200m with significant wind effects Gust factor method can be finalized as accurate answer for this building
for base moment and bas shear calculation.

Because Equivalent building velocity pressure used in static approach takes into account the dynamic response of non-slender building to
gusts in the direction parallel to the wind, it does not provide for the effects of vortex shedding. But a building of height 200m is not a non-
slender building.

The building of height 200m has a significant dynamic propertied, in addition to that if the building is located in topography significant
zone gust factor method with additional topography factor should be used to calculate base shear and base moment. The effect of
topography can be seen from the high result obtained for base shear and base moment compared to the answers obtained from first two
questions.
