Abstract:

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a promising technology that

has been implemented lately in airports. In airport, the baggage handling is
done manually. The current baggage handling system causes a large number
of mishandled bags. Mishandled baggage generates big losses to airline
companies. Though the chances for missing of luggage are not high, its
consequence will lead to greater impact only. There is no proper system for
checking the luggages. Hence there is chance of error and also the system is
time consuming in nature. It is also tough to find the missing luggage.

To overcome these drawbacks, RFID tags are used to identify and track
the location of passengers luggage. The Labview tool is used here to give an
interactive GUI, which is found to be an attractive feature and also provides
for better understanding. This can be done by graphical programming. The
GSM and Zigbee protocol are used here for communication purpose. The
Zigbee module is used to transfer the RFID details of passengers luggage to
the Labview tool so that the obtained details can be compared to know about
the status of the luggage. The presence of GSM helps in intimating the
passengers about the missing of their luggage and thus can act immediately
without wasting more time.
