ENGL 2010
Revision Proposal

I recently wrote a paper for my Humanities 1100 college class, where the topic of
the paper addressed racism and white supremacy in modern America. The prompt was
to analyze and explain texts or events related to racism and evaluate how racism has
changed since before slavery. White supremacy is often associated or correlated with
racism; therefore another part of the prompt was to analyze if white supremacy still
exists.
I would like to revise this text because the issue it surrounds is very personal to
me. Some of my strongest academic papers have been on social issues, especially
those I can relate to as a young adult. I did not get a 100% on this paper, but I would
like to revise it so that it deserves such a grade. I want to revise this paper in a way that
it becomes an article one could read in magazines or newspapers, not just for a teacher
to academically grade.
As a result of this revision process, I hope to add to the public voice against
social issues in society today. I mainly plan on working through the design process,
since it is not my greatest writing strength, and because it would attract readers to it. I
plan to start revising by using strong images and word emphasis, or clear organization
and color to bring out my opinion in the paper. I envision this specific paper to be like
another domino in the domino-effect of youth today aiming to end issues, such as
racism. I hope to master my expression of opinions through both attractive design and
analytical writing in this revision process.
