29 July 2010

From Debbie
Hi everyone,
Welcome to term three. There has been a hive of activity in the school over the break with peo-
ple laying new cable for our computer network, the builders working on the upgrade, work lay-
ing cable drains for the dental unit, and technicians in to hook our computers into the new net-
work. It was very messy at times and I was very pleased that we were able to do the work during
the holiday period. It will be another couple of weeks yet before everything is finished.

Dental Unit
At the end of the term I indicated that the dental unit would be at school for the first few weeks
of the term. Unfortunately they have had trouble hooking up the services on the smaller unit so
they are unable to be here. The intention is that the double unit will come back to our school
later this term. In the meantime if you need to see a therapist you can contact Helen at Feilding
Intermediate, her direct dial is 323 4679.

GOLD RUSH Production

Thanks to the parents who have put their hands up to help us out
with production, this will be a busy time and we really appreciate
the support you give us. Last time it was great having people in the
school sewing costumes, making props etc. I hope we can have
some fun along the way this time too.

Learning Conferences
These are scheduled to take place in week 4 which is Monday the 9th to Friday the 13th August.
We plan to have ONE late night which will be Tuesday 10th August. Times will be allocated
on a “first in, first serve” basis. The children will once again be taking an active role in these con-
ferences so with this in mind, we have allocated 20mins for each conference.

Our Sponsors
I thought it was timely to highlight once again the businesses who sponsor our newsletter.
Thanks to them we are able to bring the newsletter to you in its current format and so I encour-
age you to support them whenever you can.

Chicken Stories from Colorful Eights
In the morning Toby said there was a crazy chicken in the tree. Miss Mcleod said
we will go and see it. When we were there we only saw the nest. Then I saw it. It
was neat the nest. Miss Mcleod threw a piece of bark near it. Then I flew down
screaming, it ran up the ramp in the garden and then it ran near the hall.

I said “there is a funny chicken up the California Tree”. Then we went for a walk to
see if it was still there. Then Anthony spotted it. It looked like it was a nest. It was
camouflaged too. Then Miss Mcleod threw some bark near it. It flew right out of
the tree and then up the stairs, round the tanks and beside the hall. It peed beside
the fence. Miss Mcleod took a photo.

In the morning Toby told us that there is a crazy silly chicken in the tree that is by
the hall. Miss Mcleod threw a piece of bark near the chicken. It flew out and did
this brock, brock, brock then it ran away. I was scared. Everyone was laughing. It
was very amazing too. First I did not see it.

Crazy, cool, chicken. This morning Toby told us there was a chicken in a tree near
the bowling green. When he told us that we went for a walk. When we got to the
tree we got to see the crazy chicken. After a couple of minutes the teacher threw
a piece of bark near it. The teacher threw the bark because it would make a noise.
When she threw it the chicken went crazy because it went running down the side
of the hall. When it went running off we chased after it. When the teacher got
near the chicken she took a photo of it. The colour of it was red, black and a goldy
orange. It was funny because at the start we saw chicken pee. Hopefully it does-
n’t happen again. The chicken was as little as a cat but it was a bit fat. I
had fun watching that all happen.
