As a kid, I grew up learning how to use technology such as TVs, VCRs, computers,
Gameboys, and a few other technological tools. It seems to me that I was still very limited to
technology compared to how kids grow up today. The first phone I got was an old flip phone.
When I first got it I used a lot of abbreviations and slang, but I soon learned to use correct
language. Considering I did not receive a phone till my 7th grade year, and only having an IPod
one or two years before that, I believe texting only had a short impact on my literacy narrative.
I do believe Social networking can influence literacy narrative. Recently I have decided
to delete all my social media because I think it can have a negative impact. In my opinion, the
constant use of false information and data cycling through social media only helps people
become more negative and misinformed. It also develops bad habits of punctuation, grammar,
and style. Doing this has led me to read more as well. I have learned that it is much more
important to consume knowledge and reliable information through books and articles rather than
