Procedures
Students will write and draw in their writing journals from a prompt chosen from the teachers writing
prompt jar. The students will write three sentences about that prompt and then draw and color a picture
telling about what they have written. They should have their first and last names on the journal page
along with the date. The teacher will check for proper spelling of words that are sight words, word wall
words and words written in their spelling dictionaries. The teacher may help with other words that the
students need help with by adding the word to that students dictionary. Spelling can be assisted with the
students by sounding them out. Proper punctuation, word spacing and making sure the picture goes
along with the writing will be looked at.
