The legend of Banjarmasin

Once upon a time. Kalimantan was ruled by Negara

daha kingdom. The king passed away and gave the
throne to his son, prince Samudra. However prince
Samudras uncle was not pleased. He wanted to rule the
kingdom.
He made a wicked a plan. He forced prince Samudra
to give the throne to him and made prince leave the
region. Fortunately, there was a region that received
prince samudra warmly. The region was Bandar Masih.
The people of Bandar Masih agreed to stop paying taxes
to the new king. They also supported prince Samudra to
get his throne back and decided to make war against
prince Samudras uncle. They finally won the war. Prince
Samudras uncle surrendered and gave the throne back
to prince Samudara.
Prince samudra didnt forget Bandar Masih
contribution to his winning. He decided to make Bandar
Masih as his new capital. The kingdom converted to islam
and he begin his rule over the new Islamic kingdom of
Banjar.
The name Bandar Masih was slowly changed into
Banjarmasin as the water was taste salty in dry season
(salty is masin in banjaresa langue). The kingdom of
banjar under prince Samudras rule flourished and
entered into its golden era.
