Assignment 1: Test Review

The test review will allow you the opportunity to critically examine a
test/assessment tool in detail. The objectives for completing this review
include:

1. Description of the tool


Examine, in-depth, one particular test/assessment tool, relative
to this course, that is of interest to you.

2. Strengths and weaknesses of the tool


Use the knowledge and skills acquired while completing the
course units to critically analyze and evaluate the strengths and
limitations of the test. This includes examining the development
process of the tool, standardization, reliability and validity
evidence, and normative data.

3. Usefulness of the tool


Identify how the test ndings could be used in decision making
for the individual completing the test.

4. Issues
Identify possible testing issues with the use of the test
examined.

5. Report
Articulate your ndings in a scholarly and coherent manner.

(Hint: Use these headings, with the exception of "report" to help you
organize the body of your paper.)

Weighting: The test review assignment is worth 35% of the nal grade
for the course.

Due Date: Week 20 of the suggested study schedule found in the


Student Manual.

Instructions

This assignment allows you an opportunity to examine and critically


analyze an assessment tool in depth. This assignment will challenge
you to use the knowledge and theory you have acquired in a practical
way. Identify one of the assessment tools from the list provided that
you would like to examine. You may choose an alternative assessment
tool that you have access to, but you must acquire tutor approval rst.
If you are using a tool from the list you will need to order the
assessment tool from the AU library. The library will send you a
package containing the test manual and a copy of the assessment tool.
You will need to examine the manual in detail to successfully complete
this assignment. The manual will oer the information about the
assessment tool that you will need to address in your paper.

After you have chosen the test/assessment tool you will critically
analyze, you will need to examine it in detail, and you will also need to
do some reading about the test in other sources. The best sources to
examine are primary sources (original studies and/or articles published
in professional journals and written by authors with recognized
credentials). Textbooks can also oer solid research information, but
may not allow the kind of detail you need to critically analyze the
development process used to create the test with supportive
correlation data. It is important that you look for possible bias or
heavily opinionated comments in the sources you examine.

Preparation and Organization

This assignment should include the three major components of a


paper: introduction, body, and conclusion. Within the body of the
paper you will need to include the sections identied in the Marking
Criteria to follow. The paper should ow from one component to the
next. You will want to prepare an outline as you are preparing the
papers content. Your paper should follow proper APA style (please see
The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th ed.),
be double-spaced, and use 12-point font size. Your paper should be
approximately 8 to 10 pages long.

You will be submitting your assignment to the Assignment Drop Box,


which is located on your course web page. It is important to save a
copy of your paper for your own les.

paper should follow APA format for the title page, body, headings, in-
