Malin Kundang
One upon a time there was a man named Malin
Kundang that lived in Sumatera Barat. He was a poor man,
his father went to sea to work and he never came back
home.
Its made his mother anxior several month later. His
mother chose to forget about his father and she did a lot of
work all day and night, he saw his mother work very hard.
He decided to go sailing and made money, but his
mother didnt allowed, at the last, malin got his mother
allowance to go.
Several years later, he became a rich sailor, he had
many ships and crew, and he was married with a beautiful
girl and had three children.
One day, he had a business in an island which is his
hometown. In this island he met an old lady. She hugged
malin very tightly.
However malin scolded and pushed her, he realize
that is his mother, but he was afraid if his wife and children
knew about his mother. She relieze her sons bad tempered
she became very sad and angry, she pray for malin
became to stone.
After finishing his business he went sailing back with
his wife and children. On the sea, the sky instantly over
cast. Heavy lightning and rain was fall. Their ship hit the
rock and crashed. Malin swayed to the shore. The magic
happened. He turned in to stone liked his mother wish.
It was known as Malin Kundang stone by people of
Sumatera Barat.
