To Whom It May Concern,

Cecelia Jackson worked in my special education Intensive Skills Center (ISC) classroom as a peer
mentor while she was in high school and then recently as a Portland Community College practicum
student. The ISC services students with significant intellectual disabilities including autism. The students
academic skills range from Pre K to 4th grade and their social skills are in the K to 3rd grade range.
Cecelia exhibited an ability to quickly assess how to approach students when delivering instruction.
The students have a wide range of needs and she was able to determine the best approach for each
individual student. She worked in the ISC classroom as well accompanying my students to their
academic general education classes where she assisted the students to access the general education
curriculum. She also provided support to students with learning disability in the SPED resource room.
Cecelia is adaptable and demonstrated she can work with students with a wide range of disabilities in a
variety of settings.
Cecelia has shown versatility in her ability to adapt her instructional style to fit the needs of students
with a variety of academic needs. She also easily accepted direction from various teachers with ease.
Her adaptability is a valuable skill because as a Para Educator it is important to assess what students need
in each environment.
As a Para Educator working in a team can be a challenge for some. Cecelia is a positive influence and
easily adapts to the different personalities of her co workers. She is a good team member. Her calm
demeanor is an asset both when working with co workers and students.
I highly recommend Cecelia Jackson for employment as a Para Educator. She would be a great
addition to any school team.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth DuBois, Ed. D.
