Introduction
NBIMS v1 defined minimum BIM and used a CMM
to determine current maturity of a Building
Information Model
NBIMS v2 provided a detailed description about
each aspect of the CMM and details about its use
NBIMS v3 opens the aperture and provides a
more inclusive and comprehensive review of
multiple maturity models used in the industry
Used to evaluate information modeling and
organizational processes
Expands the list of tools and models that may be more
applicable to individual needs

2
A summary of proposed changes to v2
Chapter 5
Co-authors: Patrick Suermann, Brittany Giel, Tamera
McCuen
Condensed the original discussion of the ICMM tool
referencing the legacy v1 Chapter for further details
Revised the existing example score output with the
current Minimum BIM maturity score
Revised the tabular matrix to highlight what constitutes
a minimum BIM within each Area of Interest for further
clarification
Added a comprehensive discussion and comparison of 8
leading tools currently being used for BIM performance
evaluation and benchmarking
