Cultural Influences on Nutrition Assessment of Hospitalized Patient

Introduction

Nutrition assessment can be defined as the technique where malnutrition is easily

identified, the need for identification of malnourished patients comes as a concern

to increase the ability in making alteration in nutrition. Malnutrition is a significant

term which is hard to define as it implies that an intervention should be mandated to

make improvements in the final clinical outcome. The frequency of malnutrition is

high and it has estimates of above 50%. In this level, a possibility arising because of

this will be the staggering in the final clinical outcome. The purpose of this

discussion will be to have an insight into the identification of problems and finding

probable solutions in nutrition assessment. On the other hand the impacts of

malnutrition of hospitalized patients will be discussed and important results

interpreted.

Patients background

The patient in question is an old man from Darood, he has travelled to United States

for medication due to his declining medical condition. He is experiencing a

nutritional risk, and is suspected to have suffered a heart attack although it has not

been proven. It is the daughter who takes care of him and in this time the daughter

does not know that the fathers weight but is in suspicion that he may has gained
