    I think Rainsford did murder the General. The reason being that in these quotes it makes it seem that ; One of us

    is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard, Rainsford.He

    had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided. Those quotes lead me to believe that because the General said

    on guard implying a sword fight, and that the winner will sleep in a bed, and the other will be fed to the dogs.

    Then the story ends with Rainsford deciding he hadnt slept in a better bed
