Movie Review : Secretly & Greatly

Secretly and Greatly is a movie with mix genre of action and comedy from South
Korea, directed by Jang CheolSeo. This film is based on the 2010 spy webtoon series
Covertness by Hun, which has received over 40 million page hits. This movie which released
on June 5th 2013, has the same genre with a movie The Spy : Undercover Operation
starring Seol Kyung Gu, but secretly and greatl ymore drip at the story which the three spies
wait for the secret mission from their leader.
This scretly and greatly tells about three detectives who sent by North Korea to spy
the South Korea's security institutions. Call them Won Ryu Hwan (Kim Soo Hyun), Lee Hae
Rang (Park Ki Woong) and Lee Hae Jin (Lee Hyun Woo). Won Ryu-Hwan (Kim Soo-Hyun)
trained in the North Korea Special Forces. He can speak five languages and is alsoa lethal
killing machine. Two years ago, he received an order to deploy to South Korea as a spy.
While wandering in a poor neighborhood in Seoul, Won Ryu-Hwan passes out and awoken
by a worried old woman. The woman then allowes him to live in a small apartment above her
modest convenient store and let him work in her store. His identity in South Korea is Bang
Dong-Gu and he disguises as an idiot young man. Since that time, Bang Dong-Gu has gotten
to know everybody in the neighborhood and has become attached to the woman who treats
him like her second son. One evening, Bang Dong-Gu receives a visitor in his small
apartment. His visitor is Lee Hae-Rang (Park Ki-Woong), who trained in the same North
Korea Special Forces Unit. Lee Hae-Rang has also received an order from North Korea to
work covertly as a spy in South Korea. He disguises as a young wannabe rock star. Shortly
later, Lee Hae-Jin (Lee Hyun-Woo), also a member of their special forces team in North
Korea, arrives in the same neighborhood. While the three young men live unnoticed among
their neighbors, they wait orders from North Korea. One time, they receives a message from
their leader in north korea about their mission, but it turns out their mission is a suicide
mission for the sake of keeping a secret about North Koreas special forces team from South
Korea.
I just finished this movie and it has left me with so many feels. This 124 -minute
length movies made me laugh , tense and shed tears. The director Jang CheolSeo and the
actors managed to amaze me . Not only the plot , but their acting skills also impressed me. In
addition , this film also tells the story of friendship.
I really recommend this movie even though the ending was sad , because the film is
able to stir the feelings of the audience with an unexpected end.
